hard to use

Previous years were much easier to navigate. Extremely hard to go from one form to another. Upsells were extremely confusing and excess. I bought state and federal but description made it seem like I needed to pay for state THIS FORM WILL NOT SUBMIT BEEN TRYING 10 MINUTES still will not submit. can I file without submitting? no red notices I did not fill out something

Painful and frustrating to navigate

I found the flow of the TurboTax preparation process to be rather cumbersome and frustrating to navigate, with numerous repetitive reviews and re-inputting of data. Although it theoretically has the capability to directly sync with Coinbase and TIAA accounts, it was able to properly gather data from those entities for me. After significant futzing around trying to get that to work, I ended up just uploading documents and/or inputting data manually. It initially estimated a 2hr estimated completion time but it took more than double that. Also is filled with various "service upgrades" that they periodically try to sell you. I've been using TurboTax for 16 years and have been generally happy with results in the past, but I think I will use a different service next year.

Too many up sell windows and short on error detail

Very annoying screens that seem to come up constantly to up sell more services - maybe once at the start and once at the end, but not several times while entering information. Also, I spent hours trying to fix one tiny error on a three choice check box selection for my stock sales, with the error message so vague it was impossible to determine the error - if an error is found, then PLEASE be specific on what the error is. There were four separate sales with multiple acquisition and cost basis amounts on each sales date, yet the message couldn't even tell me which one of the sales blocks had the error. Not sure I would use Turbo Tax online version going forward.

Online version needs improve user experience

When I switched from TurboTax Desktop to TurboTax Online and imported last year’s tax return, all of the dependent information was missing. This kind of error is very easy to overlook. It might be the reason which caused my tax return got rejected in e-file. I used TurboTax Desktop version which doesn't have this issue. The online version has a worse user experience than the desktop version. It sometimes jumps back to a previous section while I’m using it. When I’m writing the review in this window, even basic actions like deleting and inserting text become glitchy—characters get mixed up or deleted incorrectly. This kind of basic bug should be avoided. I’m using Windows.

Very frustrating.

I kept having to re-input numbers and information. The constant advertisements were tiring and the interruptions only served to throw me off my momentum. If I needed help, I would have asked. If I wanted to upgrade to receive that help, I would have asked. I have used Turbo Tax for years and this is the first time I have experienced such a high level of frustration. It may be time for me to look for an alternative.

Turbo Tax needs improvement

I created duplicate form for a rental property and it was very difficult to delete it. Also, on form 568 California LLC it kept asking about inventory and I do not carry inventory so I left it blank. in the review it gave me some errors saying that I cannot leave the inventory amount blank so I put a 0; then it gave me an error because that line cannot blank or zero so I ended up puting a 1. A BIG WASTE OF TIME FOR SOMETING SIMPLE.

Easy way to file return

It's quite easy to enter most information by directly connecting financial institutions although some of them are no available. Hopefully most (including small local federal credit union banks) will be added next year. One small thing needs to be fixed. For 1099-INT, it keeps asking CUSIP No although the document shows NONE for e-filing. I found after Googling that it needs to be left blank to solve the problem instead of enter "NONE". It should guide to solve this kind of problem directly.

can't e-file

There is an issue with entering a w-2 from the state of california. When you receive two w-2s from the state with the same tax id #, you can't e-file because it states there is a duplicate w-2, which is not the case because there were two different amounts in box 1. There should be some way to override this "fix" message. I had to print and paper file, which I did not want to do. Now our refund will take longer

Goodbye TurboTax, from a very long time customer

I have been using Turbo Tax for many years, and for the past few years I keep asking myself WHY? It is difficult to find information, increasingly difficult to conduct tasks that are not super-simple, and I am SICK of the constant requests to purchase more products and/or provide additional personal information to Intuit that is unrelated to my tax filing. I had to call Intuit/Turbo Tax twice for assistance entering data, and the second time event the support person (who was very nice) was having difficulty locating where to enter the information. NEVER AGAIN.

Thanks for a solid product!

It was a nice experience using TurboTax this year! With some support from Claude AI to clarify questions along the way, the process was very smooth. A suggestion: Consider integrating an AI assistant (like Claude) directly into TurboTax to help users understand complex questions in real-time. Many of the prompts are confusing for first-time filers or those with unique situations (RSUs, IRA conversions, AMT, etc.), and having an AI explain what each question means would make the experience even better. Thanks for a solid product!
