Miss the Desktop version

I have used TurboTax desktop for 10+ years but was not able to this year because I didn't have Windows 11. For $50 CD plus a little extra for state, I spend about $90. This year I was forced to used online. I was impressed withthe transfer over. However, at the end I was zapped with extra charges. Had to upgrade to Premium only because I had a Sch D. This was always included in Deluxe desktop version. Then another $69 for state. It is double what I have normally paid.

Turbo Tax Online needs improvements

Frustrated! Seems as if you have a bad loop in your program. My wife and I each had retirement programs with our former employers (AK Div Ret & Benefits ad U.S. OMB). Last year I had no problem with our retirement accounts. This year, you insist that we have IRA accounts, and we don't. It goes into Required Minimum Distributions, before it asks us if we get periodic payments of our retirement. It wants to know how much of the RMD will be withdrawn by 31 December (I entered the gross amount paid for the year in 12 periodic payments. Then it asks if (1) the entire distribution applied to h 31 DEC RMD, or (2) if some applied, or (3) if none was applied to the December 31 RMD. Then, it goes to the IRA Contribution Results and shows no contributions and no deductibles, and states that we have a "Tax on excess accumulations in retirement accounts of $14,472" !!!!! I have no idea where it came up with that number or that we had excess accumulations. After going through this loop several times trying to tell the program that we didn't have any IRAs without success, I went on to where it asks If we were getting periodic payments from our retirement accounts. (This part should have occurred earlier, before the IRA nonsense.) Another problem: It expects that a person gets 12 periodic payments during the year. But as in our case, my wife died in October, so she didn't get any retirement payments for November or December. Take another look at your program. The previous versions worked much better for me. Now, as I try to submit my comments, it asks for a Nickname, and all of the many I tried had "already been taken." Unlikely!

I had a lot of trouble finding the K-1 form.

I had a lot of trouble finding the K-1 form. I type in form 1041 as seen on the K-1 form and turbo tax wanted me to buy another turbo tax for $190. After much google searching and different try's we found a link that gave us the right entry point. Poor work by turbotax

Probably my last year using TurboTax

As a 20+ year user of TurboTax on my PC, I've been forced to use the online version that is not as cleanly organized, more expensive and doesn't include my State filing. Plus, I can't use Deluxe for Schedule D anymore so the price is even more. This cost me 4 times what I normally pay for TT and I had to get it done before 3/31 to avoid paying even more! VERY DISAPPOINTING TO A LONGTIME LOYAL USER

Overpriced, Over-Tiered, Underwhelming

The AI features and personalized query capabilities are essentially non-existent. The so-called “AI assistance” functions more like a glorified FAQ and provides little to no value. TurboTax continues to charge premium prices without delivering a premium experience. The constant expansion of pricing tiers and upsells only adds confusion, without offering meaningful differentiation or real improvements. Feature-wise, there’s nothing that justifies the cost, and each year’s updates feel minimal at best. It’s an aging platform with superficial AI integration and no true innovation.

Using Something Else Next Year

TurboTax is simultaneously amazing and frustrating. In some ways, I feel like it used to be a better product. In particular there are far too many questions which are obviously just learning about the user instead of asking questions necessary for filing one's taxes. Also, redoing things at any point wastes a ton of time because the app forces you back through many things you've already answered. For the first time ever next year I'm planning to try a different product. BTW, this feedback form is almost unusable, at time the Review input doesn't function properly.

BOO TURBO TAX

You asked me 6 times, 1 initially and 5 subsequent times, if I want to upgrade to Max. Absolutely unnecessary and a really sly way to trick people into opting into something they already decided on. It's cheap and pathetic. And on top of that, you're charging $139 for me to file my own taxes. BOO TURBO TAX!

TurboTax Is ‘Affordable’… Until You Actually Use I

TurboTax might be the most aggressively upsold piece of software I’ve ever used. It starts simple enough—$79, fine. Then somewhere along the way it becomes $139. Then, right at the finish line, they tack on another $40 just to submit. At no point does it feel transparent; it feels like you’re being slowly walked deeper into a checkout funnel where the real price only reveals itself once you’ve already invested the time and don’t want to start over. Even worse is the constant push to upgrade to “MAX.” I said no the first time. And the second time. And the third time. Yet it keeps coming back—like someone at a bar who won’t take the hint. It doesn’t feel helpful; it feels manipulative. The software repeatedly interrupts your workflow to upsell something you’ve already declined, clearly hoping you’ll eventually give in out of fatigue. For something as essential and stressful as filing taxes, this kind of experience is the opposite of what people need. It’s not just expensive—it’s structured in a way that makes you feel cornered into paying more than you expected. If you value transparency and a straightforward process, this isn’t it.

Good but had one problem

It was fairly easy except for the fact that it was difficult to enter an estimated tax payment I made. The online help gave me an incorrect answer (asked me to select an item in a scroll down that wasn't there). I called th Intuit help line and Susan was able to get me to the right place, but it should be easier to find and I shouldn't have to call. You need to fix your online help on this item.

Name Changes are Problemmatic

Normally I love Turbo Tax for filing my taxes, but I had a name change and it did not process the forms well with my new name. It did not ask about any name changes, so I had to be conscious of the name fields when checking everything. I am not even sure if it signed my name correctly as the signature line is blank when I reviewed the return before I filed. Fingers crossed it doesn't get rejected. Also, it put my middle initial in the incorrect box on the state form. Everything was filled out correctly in my info and I followed the steps in the help section, still did not carryover the information correctly.
