Great for small business taxes!

All the questions are kind of basic, but it does do a good job of keeping you on track and not getting lost in a bunch of tax definitions and specialized jargon. I like that it is able to download from quickbooks and my brokerage accounts without me having to type in 1099s. And it saves your filing information from year to year, so adding up things like prior year depreciation is done automatically.

We love hearing that the process felt effortless for you. Taxes are complicated enough, so we’ve designed our interface to take the guesswork out of every step.

Turbo Tax Issue

We were frustrated with the difficulties we encountered in changing from the desktop to online version of Turbo Tax. Customers should be informed of what to expect when making this change. Customer support was quickly available and helpful, which was appreciated.

Disappointed Customer

Really disappointed with the updates to the platform & not happy at all with the pricing offerings. Also really annoyed by all the upselling that occurs now during the filing process. Doing your taxes is never enjoyable, but what I liked about TurboTax in the past is the user experience was straightforward and helpful that it made the process of filing feel easier. However, now I feel like I'm getting tricked into spending more money and I'm losing trust in the product. I'm definitely going to look into using another product or even go back to finding an accountant next year.

getting too expensive and harder to use

I miss the desk top version that gave you 5 tax returns and one state. It is a lot easier to use and find things then the online version. The online version did not ask me about name change and it could not upoad my documents. I transfer in of 1099s it does not display the owners name or account numbers to make it easier to figure out which return belongs to which person. I am the POA of my son so his accounts show in my bank but only taxed under his social security number. it also made me import them all and then go delete, It would not let me uncheck accounts. it makes it hard when your program does not show the name on the 1099 imported in when checking numbers.

Simple and Easy

The updates to the software in the last couple years made filing with TT even easier. There was one page concerning the HSA that was confusing and there were no help topics available. That does need attention. It was a required page but I didn't know what it was or why I had to complete it. There was also one item that uploaded/transferred inaccurately and I had to correct it - the Control Number. Other than that, everything went smoothly. It would be nice if deductions were explained more. For instance, I entered in the amount I gave in donations but I didn't receive any information about what each selection meant.

Still needs improvement

After using TurboxTax for 20 years, I feel there is still much improvement needed. Part of the issue is there should be better integrations with banks, investments, HSA providers, etc so that the numbers are auto populated. There really shouldn't be room for interpretation.

My Turbo Tax Experience

Turbo Tax has been a godsend for my personal Taxes. I've used this service for years and years and never had a rejected return or audit. I'm certain i've never spent more than an hour or 2 filing my taxes any given year. Just about every document can be uploaded/imported and or you can enter the information yourself. It's like having an expert tutor and personal lawyer present as you file.

It is awefull!

it took me more than 3 hours to just complete Virginia tax return!! Me and my wife moved to different states and I wanted to file tax returns as usual with turbo tax. It was an awful experience. I wish I paid the same $300 to a lawyer so I would not be spending hours on tax return.

Scam

TurboTax saying I was “free to file” was a strong start. Then the whole process turned into nonstop upsells, plus another **$64** for state filing that showed up way too late in the game. By the end, I paid around **$200** to file online for what looks like the same exact thing the desktop version does for about **$55**. Nothing makes you trust a company more than realizing “free” apparently just means “we’ll discuss pricing later.”
