Taxes are hard but TurboTax helps

I like how the software walks you through the process and asks questions so tat you don't forget anything. I was unhappy when the software unexpectedly froze and lost all my inputs. The next time through I saved the document after every entry. It might be a good idea to suggest saving the document periodically on the screen. I was confused about the benefits to upgrade my software from the deluxe version. I opted to keep my originally purchased version despite the several times the software suggested I upgrade it. It was unclear as to the advantage to do so.

Very Disappointed.

For all the hype of Turbo Tax, not worth it. Very frustrated in end user feature and ability to compare filing options. uploaded all tax docs, completed joint filing and was interested in difference if filed married-filing separately - had to start over, couldn't use the already uploaded files and had to re-upload again - turbo tax wouldn't or couldn't use already uploaded files???. Then very document needed to be "reviewed' because turbo tax kept thinking none or the value zero (which was entered by the financial institutions on forms) was not valid.

Nickel and Dime Ripoff

I have to pay an extra $40 to use my tax refund to pay and then another $35 if I want my money sent to my account as opposed to going through Credit Karma? That's ridiculous. Furthermore, disqualifying people from the free version for literally any reason at all and forcing them into the most expensive product because they did gig economy work is severely messed up. I will be looking for alternatives next year for sure.

Had to file an amended return.

Turbotax instructions and wording do not match what is on the return. Being a full time student is NOT an unusual situation. Somehow you allowed me to complete my return without indicating that someone else can claim me as a dependent. You ask a dozen times to review my AGI. This should have been caught in review. Rewrite your instructions.

Take a Stance!

It would be helpful to know where my taxes are going at each stage. We live in a time where tax money is being wasted like it's free. TurboTax has a large role to play in national tax revenue for the government from individuals who use their service. It would benefit TurboTax to take a stance against waste of taxpayer money in US government via calling out tax-free billionaires and abusive organizations, but instead it focuses on overt attempts to get more money from each and every person who uses their service.

Expensive AND software sucks.

Tax form from Koinly for crypto did not pickup the buy and sell dates. Had to enter this in MANUALLY for 226 transactions. They were clearly printed on the tax form, TurboTax should've picked those up, if not for buggy software. Will not be using TurboTax again. Also charged me $204 to file, ridiculous.

Better than I had feared

I had been dreading it -- I'm NOT averse to tax paperwork, actually I had self-prepared for 10+ years using a free gov't program called FreeFileFillableForms that's basically online e-file versions of all the actual IRS forms (ZERO fee, but zero help -- I didn't want or need help, which most people probably do). But that program could not accommodate one form I had to add this year (federal Form 7206) that I never needed in the past. So I was thrown into a new situation: either get a new provider to e-file with, or submit all paper returns by snailmail. I feared TurboTax would force me through many extraneous steps to enter a ton of stuff the IRS does not require. Those fears proved overblown. The details their system asked for came pretty close to what I had on my spreadsheets and had been entering with my previous e-filing service. There was some added data entry, but not too bad. And their system was less transparent than I'd like, which caused a hiccup at one point (after I wrongly entered a number in one of their screens the only way to edit or fix that was to delete that whole 1099-B and then re-enter its data). But I understand TurboTax or any commercial service cannot display any completed forms until a user pays and is set to file -- if they did, they'd be giving away their secret sauce. Also I feared their fee promotion would be deceptive (after a bad experience 10 years ago) and I'd end up ripped off with junk fees loaded on. But their fees for the do-it-yourself product came in as advertised: $129 federal plus $59 for state. (Of course, I'd have preferred to submit through my old provider for ZERO fees. But to do so this year I would have had to print and snailmail paper returns. I've long done that with NY State... but I felt it would be too risky to file federal returns on paper, in this day and age. So I went with TurboTax and paid the fees. All their final numbers came in pretty much as on the actual IRS and state form spreadsheets I had made, with only tiny differences due to rounding.)

NOT CARE FOR TURBOTAX THIS TIME!

I figured the money I'm paying you my $179. You could have helped a little better with a pen. I had a call I r s to get a pen, and I was declining with my set up three times before I did that. And I was used in my turbotax from last year, with the answers, and I still didn't pass.So that's why I had to call irs

Annoying and Expensive

This is so expensive, I wish I would've done more research and found somewhere else to do my taxes. This whole program was annoying and just felt like a literal scam. What started off as supposedly costing 129$ turned into nearly 300$. Next year I plan on filing early and somewhere else this was ridiculous.
