The desktop version should prompt users to enter their IRS generated PIN (with an explanation of how to obtain it) as part of completing the easy step filing process. In case you need a refresher, the use adds that information under Federal/Other Tax Situations/Other Return Info/Identity Protection PIN

I was really disappointed in the 2025 version of TurboTax. I have relied on the program for preparing my own tax returns from the first year it came out. This year was a major disappointment. That is not to say that there were some welcomed improvements and refinement. But, I found mistakes and things the program should have caught, but didn't. I had to carefully review all of my "File" manually to fix many omissions and mistakes, because the program either missed those items or provided a misleading prompt (particularly in the Business income are with regard to mineral royalties). It is also still incomplete with how it handles K-1 (tax sheltered investments). And, I hated having to log into my Intuit account, just to download the 1099 data from my investment companies. Worse, it showed that my 1099-DIV documents had downloaded, but they never showed up on the return, forcing me to execute the entire download process again. That part used to be easier and it never failed like it did this year. I have questions and I have lost confidence in the program. I fear what AI enhancements may to to future versions. Please don't mess up something that used to work so well. I still recommend it, but with a lot of caveats.

I've been using Turbo Tax for years and have not seen any improvements with features when entry errors are identified. It does not explain well why the error, how to fix entries and offer "specialized consultation service" to address specific or unique tax situations. I wasted over 2hrs circling around the application with a unique tax issue but was not able to override the corrections.

I have been happily using TurboTax (TT) for decades. This year it was a mess. From the beginning, TT was not able to find and transfer data from my 2024 return. The directions provided from the web site were impossible for me to follow. I was forced. In trying to input my data as a new return, all my carry over numbers were lost. I ended up digging out my old computer, opening the 2024 version, saving a copy on a thumb drive, and loading it into the 2025 program. What a mess!

It took too long to get the business components up and running. They weren't available until Jan 2026. As a result I had to figure out the business net income implications for i401K contribution limits on my own before 12/31/2025. Bottom line is I didn't fully benefit from paying for a business version of the software. Even place holders for business income and business expenses would have been better than not.

Lots of bizarre problems, including numbers without source data and forms that were unnecessary. Fortunately, your support team was able to resolve most of them, but HOURS of my time were wasted. For example, I had to go thru tax files back to 2008 to find the answer to a question about taxable income from a retirement plan just so Turbotax could repeat the calculations and get the same answer that was already printed on the 1099-R. This didn't happen in previous years. WHY DID YOU CHANGE IT THIS YEAR???

Home and Business (1) It does not handle where TP has two accounts and uses one of them to satisfy the RMD amount for both of them. Requires an override to show total RMD for both and total distributions for both in order to eliminate the RMD penalty. (2) It really should be designed so it can be prepared on chromebook.

It is a good product for those who want to prepare taxes on their own. Certainly, a better alternative than H&R Block. Fortunately for those who do not want to prepare their own return VITA and AARP provide a great alternative to H&R Block as they are free of charge.

HAVE USED TURBO TAX FOR MANY YEARS. THOUGHT THE PROGRAM (2025) HOME AND BUSINESS WAS NOT EASY TO NAVIGATE. IT APPEARED TO ME THE PROGRAM WAS DESIGNED SO MOST INDIVUALS WOULD HAVE HAD TO CONTACT TURBO TAX FOR HELP OR TO SIGN ON FOR PAID ADVICE. VERY POOR PROGRAMING.

Overall, this is a great product that I use for my taxes. I have been using this specific product for several years. The ease of use makes this product great and less painful than entering all the data myself for my investment accounts. The problems are a few, but noticeable. Every year is something different with Turbotax in terms of miscellaneous errors and problems. This year, I needed find last year's W2 data and input this manually instead of turbotax pulling the data by itself (even though it pulled other tax year's information). Additionally, every year Turbotax misses spots in the forms. Most frustrating this year was while finishing my NY state taxes, there was an inability to advance forward to submit taxes as I wanted to set-up direct deposit for estimated taxes later on and not through Turbotax. Like a hardstop, cannot submit my taxes until I pay estimated taxes via direct deposit. I feel like Intuit has their customers self-report errors for their forms and debugs months later after most users have worked around it. The problem is you cannot easily report it. Why are you making customers pay $60 for live support when there are legitimate issues that should be reported immediately so you can help all customers with these problems?
