I usually use the online version and have been using TT since 1999. This year, the online version couldn't handle a simple 529 distro trying to tax me on room and board usage. So I switched to the desktop version thinking I could just import all the work I'd done in the online version. Nope. "Error Code 190". So I installed the state program as suggested and the error never changed. No helpful text. No troubleshooting guide. Nothing. That meant I had to re-enter everything including my wife's business expenses (which online can be imported via XLSX but not in the desktop version!) all by hand. Needless to say, this is the last year of using TT after 25 years.

DID NOT GIVE ME OPTIONS TO SAVE DURING DATA ENTRY PROCESS. LOCKED UP AFTER 3 HOURS WORK AND LOST EVERYTHING BECAUSE I HAD TO FORCE QUIT. THEN HAD TO START OVER. ALSO COULD NOT PRINT JUST MY STATE FORM FOR MAILING (MORE DIFFICULT THAN PREVIOUS YEARS. I HAVE BEEN USING TURBOTAX FOR NEARLY 20 YEARS. TOO MANY ADS FOR ADDITIONAL TUROTAX SDRVICES. I PAID.FOR THE PROGRAM, LET ME GET IT DONE WITHOUT THE USED CAR SALESMAN APPROACH.

You no longer allow one free state form/filing? Grrrrr. ALSO, the filing process is long and complicated. What's up with the need to report the AGI??? Please let us know how to write that, with a $, with a decimal point? With a comma or not? I found the AGI easily, but still...a step I'd never seen before. Seemed like a lot of steps in order to file. Double grrrrr. The first time I tried to file, I couldn't because the entire return needed to be updated...please advise me to update at the start of clicking onto the return, rather than interrupt the filing transmittal process.

THE FACT THAT BUSINESS IS NOT SUPPORTED FOR MAC--A SHAME. THE FEATURES AND INTERFACES ARE WORSE THAN I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED WITH TURBOTAX. FOR YEARS I WAS A WINDOWS USER BUT THIS YEAR SWITCHED ALL TO MAC AND THE TURBOTAX ARE JUST HORRIBLE. THE DEFAULTS AND TRANSFER OF DATA IS NOT FUNCTIONALLY WELL. IN ADDITION IT DEFAULTS TO PAY FOR A STATE RETURN WHEN ITS NOT APPLICABLE FOR MOST FILINGS.

Had troubles when trying to E-fille. It took me to a business health insurance form 8941. I have no employees, so I don't pay for any health insurance. Then it took me to another from that listed my pension and annuity twice. there is no good help to correct these problems. Even your prep help person had trouble figuring it out.

Turbo tax desktop kept prompting me to switch to online. I did so and determined that it couldn't handle my complex tax situation. I had to be on the phone for 6 hours to finally get switched back and filed without getting charged a second time. Customer service was a nightmare, nobody knew how to help me until I finally spoke to my 7th representitive who actually could help.

TT had yet one more bug this year on form 8829 when you have two businesses sharing the same home office. It was incorrectly adding together the RE Taxes and trying to limit it to $40k Salt Deduction despite the amount being below $40K as TT is adding it together even though the boxes on sharing the home office was correctly checked between the two businesses, Give that 2024 had a lower $10K SALT limit this new edit check makes no sense. As it only is applying the portion of the home office that was split. This cost me 10 hours to troubleshoot and do my own work around to address. I also found a bug in 2024 related to NYS Tuition Deduction that it was picking up incorrectly off the federal form and incorrectly giving me a credit which I do not get as out of state non resident which also was not resolved and had to do a work around that also took hours.

TurboTax makes filing taxes relatively easy if not fool-proof. I had to file taxes in multiple states this year and TurboTax completed one state's tax forms incorrectly forcing me to go line-by-line through the individual forms to locate TurboTax's error (placing a 0 where none was needed and the field should have been left blank) then correct it.

It works pretty well and I've used it for years. It is very difficult to print and save and sometimes it ask for passwords and sometimes it doesn't. This year I printed prior to filing, and also after - and my estimated tax forms said that they were not final even though it was mid February.

The INTEREST/DIVIDEND/INVESTMENT SECTION IS RIDICULOUS TIDEOUS AND SO CONFUSING. PLEASE REVERT BACK AS IT WAS BEFORE 2023. Also, in 2025 i could NOT import my data from my investment accounts!!!! I tried everything! For some reason, TT kept feezing this year as well and ALSO shut down and gave me an error that data could not be saved. SO many inconsistancy's this year. I am very disappointed.
