I bought the desktop version and began filing, but had some hiccups and tried refiling through the website and got different numbers. This was confusing to me, however, after reviewing both, I realized the issue and synced everything together and was able get my taxes filed.

Overall very good. A few points of feedback: - It never asked me whether I retired in 2025, which I did, and on what date - It prorated/reduced the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion without explaining why, as I earned all my W-2 income overseas. I researched and concluded that the reduction was because I returned to the U.S. in 2025 and the max FEIE is for a full year - It does not allow to print Fed and State returns separately or by forms or without worksheets, like in previous years. This is disappointing

I have done TurboTax for over 30 years and will continue to do so, but this year was much more difficult since I had to buy a new computer (Win 10/11 issue) and no physical disc. Therefore I wouldnt add anything more to my plate, even though I was offered a "free" use and filing online with pro help. I like the security of having my data etc. in my own hands.

TurboTax ultimately produced what appears to be a correct return, but the process felt far less transparent than financial software should. Several issues reduced confidence: Required fields appearing only after hidden method selections (standard mileage vs. actual). Repeated prompts for information already entered. Significant state tax swings after running updates, without clear visibility into what changed. “Best case” comparisons that introduced additional workflow loops instead of clarity. The software is powerful, but much of the calculation logic operates as a black box. When material numbers change by thousands of dollars depending on update sequencing or hidden checkboxes, users are left assuming correctness rather than understanding it. Greater transparency around calculation drivers and update impacts would materially improve trust.

Downloading was a challenge. I needed to get help. When I finally was able to talk to a human being, the experience was excellent. He was knowledgeable and helpful. I was not able to download my information from Edward Jones, even though Turbo Tax said that I was able to. It certainly did not reflect in the return itself. Also, changing one thing during the review process, namely, I put a $0 in the form that asked if I had a business energy credit (Form 7206 I think). I had to figure out where I inputted that information and update it there instead of fixing it quickly like the other errors mentioned. This took me a while to figure it out. It should be more intuitive.

I have been using turbo tax for over 20 years now - for tax returns of increasing complexity. Overall it has been a good experience. However - with the sunset of the its deductible feature (which I did not realize was going away and resulted in the loss of a bunch of data I had entered) the program seems much less useful and integrated than before. Not sure that I will continue to use it next year - will probably look at other programs to see if anyone still have the deduction integration features.

Only one hang-up with Schedule C. Program put a 0. on line 27a and software didn't recognize it. Had to use Grok to tell me how to get rid of it. It wasn't a straightforward fix as the 0 would not easily delete. Paid $25 on my credit card for State filing but would not allow me to enter any other month but 01 on the expiration. After discovering that, i was able to change the 1 to a 12.

When I want to go back and re-enter some information, I can't find some of the options from the first entry. For example, if I want to go back to reenter 1099-B, the interface is different from the first time. Also, 1099-int and 1099-B are separate in the various items, but when I click on them, they're together, which is confusing.

My Turbo Tax experience was a nightmare this year. You owe me!! I had to pay for a desktop version when I wanted to use web version. I spent about 15 hours just entering the information and even then it was not correct. I'm not sure its correct even now! Horrible. Main problem was reporting 1099-G

delays in all the required reporting forms not available when needed, having to stop and re-start several times to wait on the applicable forms to be readied, updated and uploaded. Caused a three day job to be extended into almost 3 weeks! Never happened before this year's version
