I was frustrated that the ability to enter 1099-R data and new business assets was not ready in mid-January. I signed up for email alerts as to when those forms were ready, but never received any emails. I was still getting the messages that those forms weren't available on Feb 21, 2025. I shut down and restarted my iMac computer. Then when I opened Turbo Tax it updated and I had no problems. It seems that TurboTax was not automatically updating prior. Each time I opened Turbo Tax from mid January to Feb 21 (prior to the iMac restart), it never checked for updates, Turbo Tax just opened.

I had a very difficult time getting Turbo Tax Home & Business to download. It took multiple attempts and changing my browser twice before I could get it to load. Once loaded it did not pickup my last year return from Turbo Tax. I had to enter all info not able to import not see prior years comparison. This years program did not seem as good as last year. I have been a Turbo Tax user for over 15 years. I found the 2025 to be the least friendly i have ever used.

The changes to entering dividends, etc is very confusing. I spent more time deleting duplicated forms, etc than it took to actually complete the return. We also have to click NEXT too many times. Please include 2 or 3 questions on a page before we have to click NEXT

TurboTax ultimately produced what appears to be a correct return, but the process felt far less transparent than financial software should. Several issues reduced confidence: Required fields appearing only after hidden method selections (standard mileage vs. actual). Repeated prompts for information already entered. Significant state tax swings after running updates, without clear visibility into what changed. “Best case” comparisons that introduced additional workflow loops instead of clarity. The software is powerful, but much of the calculation logic operates as a black box. When material numbers change by thousands of dollars depending on update sequencing or hidden checkboxes, users are left assuming correctness rather than understanding it. Greater transparency around calculation drivers and update impacts would materially improve trust.

As near as I can tell, TurboTax has always been very accurate. I have never had a problem with the IRS because of TurboTax. My problem this year is trying to use the "online' version of "Home and Business". I needed to spend approximately 3-1/2 hours of online help to get my tax return visible, only to have it revert to "unable to review until filed". I finally got the downloaded version and needed to spend additional hours re-entering my 1099's and get a tax return I could review, print, and then file.

Overall, this is a great product that I use for my taxes. I have been using this specific product for several years. The ease of use makes this product great and less painful than entering all the data myself for my investment accounts. The problems are a few, but noticeable. Every year is something different with Turbotax in terms of miscellaneous errors and problems. This year, I needed find last year's W2 data and input this manually instead of turbotax pulling the data by itself (even though it pulled other tax year's information). Additionally, every year Turbotax misses spots in the forms. Most frustrating this year was while finishing my NY state taxes, there was an inability to advance forward to submit taxes as I wanted to set-up direct deposit for estimated taxes later on and not through Turbotax. Like a hardstop, cannot submit my taxes until I pay estimated taxes via direct deposit. I feel like Intuit has their customers self-report errors for their forms and debugs months later after most users have worked around it. The problem is you cannot easily report it. Why are you making customers pay $60 for live support when there are legitimate issues that should be reported immediately so you can help all customers with these problems?

The summary pages throughout the interview process are supposed to list the current amount and the prior-year's amount side-by-side. I noticed this year that when I look at the summary pages that quite often the current year amount remains 0, even though I've clicked into the form and entered all the information. It causes confusion as to what I've done and what needs to be done still.

Turbo Tax is a helpful way for a person who understands numbers and taxes to avoid the cost of a professional accountant - and learn about money management. The two areas that were cumbersome were 1) new format for Charitable Deductions' goods valuation and 2) being able to easily locate and get back to Schedule C. Both could be improved.

1) TurboTax for Wisconsin does not explain Wisconsin Schedule SB Form 1 - Subtractions from Income, line 16 Retirement Income subtraction (credits restricted) very well. The restricted credits should be compared with taking the subtraction - for a married couple both receiving retirement income, the subtraction is $48,000! That makes a HUGE difference of about $2,000 savings in our case. 2) The printed instructions for mailing an amended return for Wisconsin have an incomplete mailing address, which does NOT include the city, state nor ZIP code.

I love Turbo Tax!! Easy to follow instructions, I like it tracks for errors and helps me fix them. It has help guides that are helpful. I Like everything about it, please don't make a lot of changes as it works perfectly for me. I have tried other Tax software and Turbo Tax is by far the best!! Thanks for making a great product.
