Long time user, still some annoyances

While I have been using TurboTax since 1987, there are still some annoyances in the current versions. One is that you can't mark some fields as "estimated" (this really helps when starting to input placemarker data before final reports are available). A bunch of other annoyances that I don't have time to list here. I'm dismayed to find out you no longer support Windows 10 for the 2025 tax year.

Very Disappointed

This year version of Turbo Tax is horrible, I have been using this software for years because of the convenience and it has saved me a lot of time when it comes to preparing my taxes. Not sure who idea it was to change the software. This year I was unable to import or upload Turbo Tax returns from prior years and my 2024 Turbo Tax was saved on my computer. I am really disappointed in the 2025 version. If I have to manually input my information I might as well shop around for a cheaper tax software.

TurboTax passes again, but only gets a "C"

TT continues to be confusing internally. I have many questions throughout the return prep process that are not answered clearly or readily. I also run into issues that require my calling your so-called "Product Experts," and of the several I spoke with this year I had only one positive interaction; the others were not only not very knowledgeable, but they used speaker phones or some microphone system that made them difficult to hear, especially since they had foreign accents - NEITHER of which is helpful.

The most comprehensive tax filing software.

I've been using this for over a decade. It walks you through every step and makes sure you're getting the best return. Even checks the forms to verify they are all filled out properly. If you're unsure of yourself you can always purchase additional helps and features for full service at a fraction of what the professionals charge.

TurboTax is OK (sort of)

TurboTax now makes it more difficult to toggle between EasyStep and Forms format. In addition, for the second year in a row, TurboTax fails to furnish information about how to obtain an IRS-generated PIN and where to insert that PIN in the tax return. Both of these failures consumed several unnecessary hours of my time.

Turbo Tax is inconsistent with Tax Laws

There is no federal or state tax law that prevents withholding income taxes in excess of 50% of wages. Form IRS W-4, Employee's Withholding Certificate, Step 4: Other Adjustments (C), Extra withholding. Enter any additional tax you want withheld each pay period, allows for withholding up to 100% of your wages. For "supplemental wages" (like bonuses) exceeding $1 million in a calendar year, the IRS mandates a flat withholding rate of 37%. When combined with FICA (7.65%) and potentially state/local taxes, the total withholding can easily exceed 50%. The IRS does not penalize you for overpaying your taxes. Any amount withheld that exceeds your actual tax liability for the year will be returned to you as a tax refund after you file your return. Unfortunately, TurboTax software assumes the information on the W-2 is incorrect if withholding exceeds 50% of wages and therefore will not electronically file federal and state tax returns. Why your software doesn't asked the taxpayer to confirm the W-2 information rather than preclude electronic filing is unconscionable. Is there anything you can do short of forcing me to physically mailing income tax returns?

Awesome product!

Worked great for me. There was a problem where I had to manually enter Royalty info on Schedule that I thought I had already entered. It was flagged during the Fed review at the end. It did create problems for me in that I had to buy another computer in order to run Windows 11!

Credit card payment (e-file) process bug

The process (box window opened) to make payment for e-file has bug. The credit card expiration months only show/allow months 1 to 8 or 9. (I can not move to month 9, 10, 11, 12) In the end, I have to use a credit card that has expiration month 1 ~ 9 to make payment.

TurboTax has major issues this year

I would rate this a -5 if you let me. The software was terrible this year. - Bank integration did not work, foreign tax credit not working properly, buggy software that needed reboots. - Solo 401K tax credit was NOT recognized by the UI and needed to enter manually via Forms mode.

Unfriendly for foreign source pensions

I receive pensions from the UK government and a former employer in the UK. I have entered correct contact addresses for these payors. They do not have EIN numbers. I entered 99-999999 as suggested by Chat GPT. These show up as errors in the final review and prevent on line filing. The system is not friendly with regard to income from these sources. Can you add an input form for foreign sourced income and pensions please?
