Look for other Tax Prep software. This is no long

This used to be a good product. Forcing people to buy a new computer, just to do their returns is ridiculous. There is no need to upgrade to Windows 11 for a tax return, if it can be done online with Windows 10. Not to mention, the instructions are a lot more confusing, than in the days past.

You broke an essential function of TurboTax.

This year's edition was just adequate. Primarily since it forced the use of Windows 11 and then was never able to import tax forms (any 1099's including stock trades) from my financial institution. This is a major flaw and unless it is fixed, I cannot recommend the program. This is an essential function that just does not work anymore for my financial institution. And there is essentially no information on a work around except to manually enter the information. Very poor execution.

Tuibo Tax has been and will always be my go to

I have used Turbo Tax for years and more recently Personal and Business. The program continues to make entering data as easy as possible and double checks for errors. The only reason for 4 stars is this is the second year I have entered 1099NEC information. This is the second year the information entered does NOT total to the summary page and continues to say UPDATE when all of the entering is completed and accurate.

As wonky as it's ever been,

Multiple issues with installation centering around operating on a network that blocks DoH based DNS, installation crashes out with a cryptic error and several online recipies do not identify the issue, went on a hunch and it was in fact DoH blocking at the router. Also, De-minimus expense election is only available on the Home & Business edition, even though the IRS allows this election for those who operate as landlords and can otherwise file using the Premier version of Turbotax. Overall the interface is clumsy, scrolling with a scroll wheel is backwards.

Meh, each year it's one bug or another

Mostly a good product, but each year there's one bug or another that sucks up all my time. It's not clear how to report the bug, and every year the options change about how to get a call-back for tech support. This year's desktop version replaced the "search" function with a useless robot... so, for example, if you wanted info on a particular form, you used to be able to type the form number into search. Now if you do that, a robot tells you that it doesn't know what you're talking about but wouldn't you rather read a bunch of forum posts on completely different things. The product is always so close but yet so far...

no help on efile rejection

My e-filed return got rejected twice, once for missing payer's TIN on 1099-R forms, once for incorrect "self select PIN' in the e-file page. turbotax had a number already in there which i assumed was from last year. i spent over an hour "chatting" with your AI bots on how to fix this and they kept telling me to click on links that did not exist on the task bars or anywhere that I or your bot could find. Bot kept telling me to do things i had already told the bot could not be done because the button bot said to click on could not be found and bot could not tell me where to find it. nor could bot even get me back to the page where i could see what was in the self select PIN box. nor could bot tell me how to change it, how to get it from the IRS or from Turbotaxes records. I even tried to open a previous year's version of turbotax and see if I couild find it on its e-file page. Turbot tax wouldn't let me open my 2024 or 2023 versions w/out a "license" number which i didn't have. so I finally just decided my only option was to file by mail. seems like the program would have caught some of these problems before hand. I've been using your softwar for decades. but this experience has not been satisfactory, and I might have to explore other options. Before I even got to your bot, I had a hard time finding any link in the email you sent that would take me to the place on your website where it could tell me what the problem was. your website leaves much to be desired when help is needed. And now you won't let me submit this review or get past this page.

Desktop version took a big step backward

The desktop version was frustrating this year, especially for crypto. The online product has a much better import and automation workflow, while the desktop version felt clunky, outdated, and far more manual. It makes no sense that a paid desktop product would have worse crypto handling than the online version. The biggest issue was having to do extra manual work for crypto reporting that the online version seems to handle much better. That is a major downgrade in usability. I'm also unhappy with the audit defense offering on desktop. It appears to cost more than other options while offering less coverage than the web version. Charging more for shorter coverage makes the desktop product feel like a worse value overall. TurboTax desktop used to feel like the more capable option. This year it felt like the opposite.

TurboTax is awesome and saves hours

This is about my 30th year with TurboTax and your software is accurate and user friendly. Your print selection is functional but could use more features like an easy way to print draft pages as you're working on them. It makes reporting to the IRS and Georgia Dept of Revenue very easy due to the great interfaces.

Normally awesome however this year not so much

This year was challenging for the download of the app with all of your request for add on services. it makes me want to shop other options for business and home tax filing. I just want to download the software and do my taxes. Please make next year easier.

AI still needs work

transferring from previous returns and downloading from brokerage did make things a lot easier. however, it was difficult to find an answer to a question about changing something in the return. I had to go outside of the application, and outside of turbotax help to get the answer. Your AI bot has limited understanding of questions
