It seems this year the interface was not as clean as normal. Entering imported documents took you in circles. Maybe the support of Windows 11? Never saw this on previous versions. Make the page that requires you to enter your state ID OPTIONAL. The information is not required to file your Taxes.

I have been a customer for years. Getting along in age, I am now at the point where I sell some of my investments. The 1099-B has everything on it, but I found that entering normal, long-term, and short-term gains was tedious because I had to enter the same information three times, instead of one page to cover all inputs for one sale. Also, the RMD data might better be served by starting with the RMD and then asking for the withdrawal information. When drawing from more than one account, I got a little confused and entered the total RMD amount twice. Not a good surprise.

The interface with the user could use significant improvement. For example, I did not discover what the system requirements for 2025 were until I tried to download after purchasing the software. Why not include SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS on the box— as many software companies do? At the end when customers are filing, saving, printing, the header states HERE'S HOW TO SAVE YOUR FILE. Below that the only link is PRINT RETURN. There is NO SAVE FILE AS PDF link! Nuts!! Most people are sufficiently stressed by the mere act of completing their taxes. Don't add to the stress by forcing people to guess what they need to do for such simple processes as saving the file. Your software is uposedly focused on average people completing their taxes, not technology nerds.

First time user, extremely difficult experience especially if you have multiple 1099R and 1099 in general. Many glitches on downloading information from my financial institutions. Many undocumented ways of doing things and many work arounds. If your brokerage company uses a clearing company and it is listed use that instead when you try to download all your inputs for 1099 and trades. One of the many undocumented things they do not tell you. I was able to download a copy for $5 from my brokerage company. Major item to consider if you do this yourself using this current software you must use a good AI program I used ChatGBT and Grok. There is no possible way I could have used this software without the use of these two programs. I suggest you get a one month paid version of ChatGBT this way there is no limitation on to what you could upload and analyze or input and analyze. In the end, everything filed okay state and federal took me a lot longer than I thought it would. One more problem this particular desktop version does not scan PDF documents. The online product actually does I tried that one first the problem with that one is that it does not adequately download your information directly from your financial institution. Not a program for the casual computer user. Documentation is not adequate. maybe next year I will try H%26R block software.

I've been using Turbotax for probably 20 years. Last year, when I filed my 2024 return, you estimated a $1216 State Tax refund. Several weeks after filing, South Carolina Dept of Revenue came back and said that was wrong, I was only due a $309 dollar refund. I didn't argue wit them, I looked at it and they seemed to be right. That is the one mistake that has ever come back to me. I do appreciate how you keep track from year to year of capital gains and loses.

Preparing the Minnesota return was difficult. Moved from a second home to a primary residence in mid-July. Second home was converted to a rental property. I couldn't record the points properly for the second home and had to file the MN return with a printed copy. Had to fill in the points by hand on line 12, Schedule M1SA, even though the total on line 14 did include the points. Also had to hand adjust the statement attached to properly show the two banks and amounts for the amortized points. TurboTax is good but some things can't seem to be handled.

I have ben using Turbo Tax for over 20 years and I have always been very satisfied with the product and I would rate it very good to superior. However, this year I cannot do this because one of the features that I have come to rely on was gone and I had no idea that it was eliminated. The 'Its Deductible' feature was always a plus to make sure I could get all of my charitable contributions in order in a mass input. Unfortunately, it was not on the 2025 Turbo Tax. As a result I can only rate this tax product as average. I may need to look at other tax document prep software to see if they have easier programs to keep my contributions in order. I would strongly suggest putting this feature back in. I know many like me rely on this to get things in order quickly for the maximum tax refund.

The TurboTax desktop version is straightforward until multiple schedules involved. I had to buy the Tax Advice service to get issues/questions resolved/answered. But the Tax Advice Service is really worth the money. I'd think I called 4 times and they were all very helpful to guide me move forward. Definitely recommend to get it.

Very good product, but has some rough edges that would benefit from some refinement. Entering K1 info is cumbersome and can be confusing. Additional guidance would be helpful for K1s for those not well versed. Also, it would be EXTREMELY helpful if the "what you need to mail" section of the filing instructions would list the attachments required by the state being filed instead of the lazy tagline of "along with any required attachments."

TT leads you through tax topics in a logical order, making the process as easy as possible. IF you have your needed information organized, it streamlines your tax filing process. The interface is 'friendly' and easy to use. In fact, TT 2025 is easier than ever. One minor complaint - for those who do not want to use the cloud, it is much more difficult than it should be to get to the downloadable version!
