Possible bug in filling ID information on e-pay

At the moment of filing when the software asked for an ID, I opted for using my driving license but the software insisted that I also enter the expiration date of an additional State ID. The software did not let me proceed with just entering the Florida State driving license information so to be able to process further to file mine income tax electronically I had to state I had no form of identification. There seems to be a bug on your Premier version. Never had a problem with other versions in past years.

Rentals made simple

Really like TurboTax for our rental property. Makes the filing simple. I haven't used any oher program so I relly don't know if there is another one out there that would save me $. It also allows you to do different things to see if submitting a different way gives a better return. One thing I would like is to better understand how safe it is to do the online version. Always worried about identity theft and always used the download because I don't like all our info "out there".

declining quality by year, less intuitive

Turbotax is less intuitive than ever. Questions are not clear. Needed options are hidden. Help button is a robo thing that doesn't help at all, nor does the "community." The agent tried very hard to help me for 90 minutes and was kind and patient, but "not a tax expert." Because the problem I had was with TurboTax, they did let me eventually speak to a real tax expert without the crazy extra fee and she was able to help me.

Could not exit software once I started

What have you done to this software? I opened a test return for reference and had to go thru it before I could get out of it. How doI exit turbotax anywhere in the process? Why cant i delete the file when I know it's the wrong one?' I hope I can use this software this year. It gets harder each year. At least it transfers data. Thats a good feature.

Advertising needs some work - truth in advertising

Advertising is very confusing. First I bought the Turbo tax package through Costco because it said I could file 5 federal returns and one free state return. Well come to find out that is an online package and you can only file one federal return (had to call Turbo Tax to find this out). So then I had to buy another premium package desktop version this time, says 5 free federal and one free state. But that is also not true. They give you one free "download" of a state return but you still have to pay $25 to file it!! Needless to say I am not happy. The product itself works fine but the advertising is not true.

Formerly Great, Now Prolonged Manual Entry Mess

I have been using TT for decades, and my impression is that the quality of the product is declining. Every year there seems to be more manual entry required. At the most basic level, I couldn't even import my USAA 1099's. I'm willing accept tha increasing complexity is part of the problem, but what you've done with charitable deductions is unconscionable. With It's deductible, entry was relatively easy. The new system is more that cumbersome, it's an abomination and creating a new form 8283 is insane.

It feels like TurboTax slipped a little this year

I've been using Turbotax for over 10 years, and it was always easy to use. This time, I ran into several glitches, starting with the new way the software instructed me to load in my data from last year. There is a popup window that addresses this at the start, and it is a dead loop. Eventually I went back to the way we did it last year, and that worked okay. This version also decided that I must have Canadian data to input, which has never been true. I went over my entries, and I do not see anyplace where I said anything about Canada. The software was sure I had some Canadian income, and I spent more than a few minutes trying to get out of that loop. The forms about Canada are still in my final submission, but with zeros for the amounts. Eventually I got the job done, and I wish there was an easier way to review my data input on the Form 1099's (I think that was easier last year.). I will probably still use TurboTax next year, but I hope they work the bugs out before then. Thank you

Turbo Tax is cheaper than hiring a accountant

Overall, I like using TurboTax and have been using it for myself and my grown children for years. I do not like having to Pay $25 for each state (I am up to 3) nor paying $25 to e-file each additional state. There are multiple times when Turbo Tax asks for the same information to be entered, which is annoying and repetitive, e.g., routing and checking account numbers for federal and again for State. It asked how much my state refund was last year, after digging it up, it already had the number, annoying again.

TurboTax is getting a little more complex in 2025

This year, the application seemed more complex than in prior years. This year I had to search for and provide RMD information unlike other years. Also, the IP PIN input page did not come up automatically, I had to search for it. The information related to the requirement for reporting foreign bank accounts via a separate Form was confusing.

Lacking in places!

Downloaded information was not correct but probably not a Turbotax issue more the financial institutions issue. Help finding 2024's AGI was not inline with my experience (my web portal must differ from what was anticipated by the help instructions. Same general ease of use beyond this. Even though I had the 2024 tax file my information would not import into 2025!
