TT is good reliable software

It would be helpful to make an explicit instructions for entering all countries with foreign income on a brokerage statement as a single entry for foreign tax credit purposes to avoid redoing forms from scratch after figuring out that only 1 entry per broker per country is allowed.

Turbo Tax continues to be very good after years.

This time I gave Turbo Tax a rating of 4 out of 5 for the following two reasons: 1) After using Turbo Tax for over 15 years with no problems at all, in 2024 Turbo Tax, I was shocked to learn that in order to use it I had to have the latest Apple operating system (Mac OS). All my Apple computers would not accept the latest OS, so I was forced to purchase a new Apple computer. 2) Using the 2025 Turbo Tax app it would not transfer my personal data from my 2024 tax return. I had to input all that information on the keyboard.

You are asking for frustrated customers

I like your app and have used it for years but this year, when going to file t I had to enter my name and address 3 different times! How frustrating since you already know my name and address!! How about entering it and letting me change it if needed? Same with bank codes and accounts. How about I enter it once and then confirm it?

Trouble with the 1099-R & 1099-Q

I had trouble with a 1099-Q to me but was for my granddaughter. It was a small amount but I ended up paying a tax on it because the software didn't walk me though it well enough. I also am concerned that there will be a problem with the 1099-R as I have 3 IRAs but take the total RMD required from 2 of them. I entered all information as the software requested but I'm concerned as there didn't seem to be anywhere to enter the RMD for the 3rd IRA that I didn't take anything from because I took more from the other 2 and didn't need to take any from the 3rd.

SosSo Tax prep

This year I did the Premier version still using most of the Forms from last year. The interview process did not check correctly for double form entries transfers and seem to forget that a 1099-R was taxable which I corrected. IRA withdraw showed in 1040 no tax taken out and BOX 7 option 7 selected didn't really fix that until you go to 1099-R manually goto "Verify Box 7 Dist. Code" and review the options and select A4 in my case else the Turbo TAX totally misses this review ck from what I experience. For ADU Labor/Material deductions I never could figure which form to use so I ended up putting it on Schedule C since this was to be used for support services. Section 179 and 1065 all that is confusing for that sort of tax deduction.

Turbo tax needs to be easier for students

Honestly It was just the worst to use. I am a student and I have scholarships that I got, I filed in two states, and there was just so many ways this could've been easier. you enter one thing and you see you tax return go from refund 1000 dollars to ow 300 and you are just confused as to what went wrong because what you entered was a scholarship amount, and then 30 minutes later it asks you if the thing you entered was a scholarship and was supposed to be included and then it jumps back to 1000 dollar refund. I hate turbotax

Overall, good, but....

Overall, I really like TurboTax. However, I was disappointed in how it handled my 403(b) distribution, which as a pastor, was for nontaxable pastoral housing allowance. TurboTax did not allow me to add a clarifying statement to my taxes (i.e.- 1040SR, line 5c(3).) regarding why that distribution was not taxable. Hopefully, the IRS will not contact me asking me for additional information regarding that 403(b) distribution.

TurboTax Isn't Awesome, but it is Useful

Does what its is supposed to but leaves one wondering why it did what it did. I had a huge discrepancy between what it computed I owed in taxes and what the tax tables showed based on my income. What I found is that the software was correct because it used an IRS form excusing my capital gains from being taxed (0% at my income level), however that was not clear why it reached this value without a lot of research on my part (the IRS tables showed 3000 tax due; Turbotax showed 600 tax due). It would have been nice if it stated somewhere what form computed the tax. Also, TurboTax attempted to give me a state credit for Unreimbursed ACA Healthcare Premiums, even though a portion of these were reimbursed. It never asked. I had to compute the correct credit and then manually change the value in the form. To the software's credit it did compute the correct tax and corrected the tax originally shown. I think the software should have verified that these were Unreimbursed rather than assuming all ACA premiums were not reimbursed. I'm sure I'm one of the few honest people who would actually report correctly to the state and pay more in tax.

TurboTax went backward !

Last year, TurboTax helped me to retrieve all of the tax information from my investment companies and banks and populate the data into the appropriate places. I liked that feature very much. To my disappointment, this year (year 2026 when I file my tax return for year 2025) the above feature is NOT available. Please bring back this feature. Thank you.

Won't use Turbo-Tax Again

Outrageous that after completing e-file there is a notification to send in a paper form 8453. And the form indicates another form 8489 is required and it is not in the same file which means I have to go find it. And the additional $25 e-file fee for the state filing is offensive as the cost for that process can not possibly be anything close to that amount. I will not use Turbo-Tax going forward.
