Turbo Tax is NOT easy. Program asks the user questions it should know by information already entered: Why is Medicare wages higher then state? Going through Pa State program, The step by step doesn't show the program transferred the union dues to the state as a deduction. Had to switch to form view to confirm. The same for prorating tax exempt dividends.

I've been using computer tax software for decades and have followed the tax s/w through the various acquisitions until we have turbo tax 2025. It has improved with each year making it easier to file taxes. I especially like being able to view help with each entry. However, I wish there was a "what if" for next year to test out different scenarios (i.e should I payoff a loan with 401k or just pay the interest). I know the laws change year to year, but a general "test" return would be nice.

your filing screens seemed to be a lot more complicated than prior years. in addition, it took 4 attempts to get through the filing and payment steps to FINALLY PAY OUR TAXES and get the returns filed. we will strongly consider alternatives next year.

The program is much much worse from prior years for the investment section. So much so that I think I want to find another program to use. I do not like having the cards for each investment and then having to click through them one by one. There should be an option to select multiple investments and delete them all together. It took me probably 3 times as much time to do the investments than prior years. I also cannot find the option to save a copy of my return. How is this even possible to not be able to save.

The program does have some shortcomings, like it inserts the CT exempt dividends from mutual funds in the wrong line. I have received notices from CT to that effect. I have to override this entry and put it in the correct line that the DRS has told me in writing. The process for entering foreign taxes also seems to ignore entries made.

Four stars given instead of five because had issue with update download requiring expert help form Intuit. Also down load of tax forms encourage using preparing taxes on line instead of using desktop. I did not like the online preparation, therefore, switching to the desktop format I find up better and easier to use.

Overall, I give you a A Minus. Some of the screens dealing with IRA's and Annutities need to consolidated. Asking the same questions about disaster relief over and over is irratating. Our 1099R from OPM did/does not have a box 3, but Turbo Tax keeps treating it as an error. I had no value for a box 3 entry. This needs revising. It seems to me you use an excessive amount of worksheets for the forms that are actually required to be filed. It would be nice if you provided an advance look for the following year without having to regenerate a new return.

I felt the Online version railroaded me. I wasn't allowed to choose what I wanted to work on. So I went with the Desktop version. But, the Desktop version will NOT let you download financial information from third parties if your copy of Windows 11 isn't activated. Thus, Turbo Tax forces you to pay for and activate Windows 11 if you want to use the Desktop verson. However this turned out to nullify my Desktop choice because Windows 11 just inserted the Cloud (One Drive) into my file paths without asking, In the end I might as well have been using the Online version.

I have used TurboTax for years. Each year the product makes entry of information a bit easier and understandable. The government makes filing taxes more difficult than it should be, without TurboTax I am sure I could not do it on my own. Additional information on tax topics is a click away, all forms are properly completed, reviews find areas that need further data imputed, downloads of data from investments is improved from past versions.

I experienced a few glitches that I was able to circumvent. I had a problem on State taxes of a swirling circle displaying "Calculating" & took a long time (+10mins) before I aborted the application. I attempted to contact your Turbo Tax live expert, but I had a difficult time to locate & access the right WEB online site. Instead, somehow I got to a WEB site "Ask for Advice" & needed to pay $50 for a 30 min session. Long story short, I managed to bypass the problem after researching thru AI, and getting an alternate method to resolve the problem without having to pay the $50.00. Additional glitch I encountered, was when the Final transmission of my Electronic filing for Federal & State, the status checked off for Reviewing, Preparing, Validating an had a swirling circle on Transmitting; that brought me back to the beginning start screen to file for Electronic taxes. Very frustrating to repeat process.
