Good, but they charge for state e-Filing

Software does an excellent job of walking you through the complicated tax code to zero in on what applies to your situation. Would give it a perfect score if it would draw last year's AGI into the return (had to look it up on the old file), and ESPECIALLY if they wouldn't charge e-file for the State! The state doesn't charge to e-file! Why should TurboTax? They shouldn't.

Plz add Forms Mode to Turbo Tax Online

Started my return in the online version of Turbo Tax. Because I needed to switch to forms mode I had to purchase the desktop version and file my taxes with it. I prefer the online version because there is more help and explanations. The desktop version of help reminds me of the IRS tax booklet explanations. Please consider allowing the forms mode in the online version.

Software not as friendly to user inputs as prior

Software not as friendly to user inputs as prior years. On Form 1040, there is no way to apply refund to next year's tax. Only check or direct deposit are available. Line 37 to apply refund to next year is not an option. All I could do is edit in Acrobat and delete line 35a and manually enter into line 36. Prior year's software was much more user friendly. Who did you hire to mess up a good version?

Pretty Good - But...

The overall functionality of this year's TurboTax desktop product was very good. One item that could be improved is guiding a user to enter their IP PIN if they require one, explaining that this is different from the PIN a user chooses prior to filing. Not understanding this created a great deal of confusion for me and resulted in my return being rejected multiple times.

TurboTax - Why can't I correct the "Errors"?

This will be the last year I use TurboTax. Every year there seems to be a bug or error that is not explained or that cannot be easily corrected. This year I had to delete multiple TurboTax worksheets in order to be able to file electronically. When directed to the location of the "error," I was unable to make fixes or changes.

Bobs 2025 TT Problems
3 out of 5 stars review

Software Problems this year!!!

I've been using TT for several years. This is the first time I had to fight with it. (1.) It wouldn't import all the Schwab files I selected from a combined 1099 (1099B was missing). Customer service said for me to enter it manually. Not a big deal however the remnants that were imported created multiple entries I had to comb through to remove all duplicates. (2.) I believe it was because of the remnants of the 1099B that caused me to have to upgrade to the premier version, from the Deluxe + State. (3.) I E-filed 3 returns and now the software is telling me I've hit my limit of 5 free E-files. One of the returns had 2 text responses from the IRS as 'accepted' and 'denied' although I only E-Filed in once. Now I get to chase down which returns were successfully filed and which were not. I have yet to receive the text from the IRS that my last e-file was accepted which coincides with the notice that I have reached my 5 free filing limit. I still have a 4th return to file so it looks like I'm in for some more phone time with customer service to get this resolved.

Missing feature forces mail-in return submission

Every year I am unable to attach required documentation for the Ohio Scholarship donation credit to my Ohio state electronic filing. (Ohio Schedule of Credits, line 15. Scholarship donation credit) As a result, users are forced to file via mail at additional cost and significant time for response from the state. To resolve this, there needs to be a feature for users to add supporting documents to their return within TurboTax.

Turbotax for dummies

The 1099R filing forminformation could be somewhat cleared. My problem stemmed from having 2 IRA's, but taking the total tax payments from only one account. So when I entered my distribution information from the 1st account I took no actual money from it. In entering the 2nd IRA distribution I added the total amount of both account distributions, instead of just the amount of the 2nd accont. I therefore increased my distributions by the amount of the 1st IRA, as well as my total income. Hence, I had to file an amendment to correct this error.

Outdated app

I've used TurboTax for many years. Will not any more from next year. The app is so outdated. Constantly needs update. Random errors. Smart Check tells me there is an error at form 2241 but no explanation or link to where it is - something very basic this day and age. Even typing this review feels stupid - it constantly moves the cursor to the end. There is a new app every year and I can't even delete them. It's becoming just ridiculous. One big draw was to share with 5 family members and that got killed last year.

Turbotax was awesome.

My account purchase had been cancelled someway. I called to get help. Watson was very helpful. We ordered and purchased the software. I had already completed my taxes but not filed them. When we made the new purchase all of my information had been saved so I didn't have to rework anything. Thanks Watson for your help.
