Though my wife and I have used Turbotax each year for over a decade, the software algorithm has regrettably deteriorated over the years to a point where I might as well have used the official federal and state forms directly on my own. The 2025 Intuit Turbotax Premier is riddled with help links that do not work and certain wizard-style questionnaires take you down an irrelevant path without clear instructions what is happening (1099-NEC and Schedule C as one example). I do not have the confidence that this software helped me prepare my taxes as accurately as it may have done 10 years ago.

IT GETS WORSE EVERY YEAR... ONLY REASON I USE IT IS I THINK IT WILL IMPROVE, AND YOU NEVER KNOW UNTIL YOU'VE SPENT YOUR MONEY AND ARE INTO THE 2ND PAGE.WWWRRROOONNNG AGAIN . THIS YEAR'S WAS THE WORST YET. THANK GOODNESS FOR CHAT WHO EXPLAINED WHAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO DO!! IT USED TO BE SO EASY YEARS AGO. WHAT HAPPENED? I AM GOING TO JUST GVE IT TO A TAX MAN OR WOMAN EVEN THOUGH I DO NOT MIND DOING IT MYSELF IF I HAVE THE OLD PROGRAM FROM 8 YEARS AGO, SIMPLE AND ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS EDIT THE LAST YEARS RETURN ENTRIES WHICH WERE LISTED AND POPULATED AND ANSWER A FEW QUESTIONS!!! IT JUST GETS WORSE AND MORE CONFUSING EVERY YEAR.

I enrolled in the live support. But it took me 3 times to get a person that helped me with my situation on RMD's with precious metals - using the option that you could pay from another IRA account so you didn't have to sell your metals to pay the RMD. (turbo tax software does not allow you to identify you are using one IRA to pay other RMD re4quirements. Austin was very helpful by saying that I could add a note explaining this. (hope this works).

Two small issues: 1. Instructions for Form 8949 are obtuse. All I needed to include was the 1099-B detail page for trans with non-reported cost basis. 2. After deductions & credits, review page ERRONEOUSLY shows vehicle registration fees added to PRIOR year standard deduction.

Turbo tax has made Filling mutual funds and stocks the ordinary dividends or distributions much harder than it was in the past It's not very clear it doesn't give you a lot of feedback on how you should access this Several years ago it was very clear and understandable when you put in a company's name and it downloaded not so much now Sometimes those new improvements aren't very good this is a good example

Product is very good, but it is frustrating why TT can't manage to fix their fill-in for the six digit IRS PIN number allowing only 5 digits. Even when I went to the Special Tax Situations page (or whatever it's called) and filled in the 6 digit number in that space, it still insisted I fill in a five digit number near the end of the process. This has been going on a few years now. Why I wonder?

The experience was a lot less intimidating than I thought it would be. Especially since I am a) not a math person and b) not a technology person. I did need a little hep but utilized the reasonably priced live help and it made the process much less stressful.

As usual, it was pretty straightforward. The only problems I had was getting my information organized in Quicken because I am never very standard in setting categories in order to get good reports for things like charity/donations and Doctors etc. But once I have that arranged, it's not bad, I mean it's still taxes, but not bad. Still doesn't run on the Linux operating systems except very indirectly.

The Tax Experts have been very helpful. The last Expert I talked to name was Trevor. He was very helpful on getting me to getting my refund. The product has a major flaw and I feel I should get a complete refund for the product purchase, submitting my State refund electronically and for having to pay for the Tax experts. Total cost $167.99. I chose Turbo Tax to save money and time, but could have used my tax person for almost the same amount of money to do my return for me and save all the time I have lost and frustration. I started my refund early and when I imported my W2 I had downloaded into Turbo Tax my 2024 W2 instead of my 2025. The first expert I talked to said that the software should have caught that, but I ran it a second to check to see if I over looked something and it took the wrong W2 without alerting me to the mistake. I just retired the first of the year and hoped I would have my return to keep me from taking money from my retirement for a while and keeping my investments until later, but I have had to sell earlier than expected. The reason I am giving two stars is because your help has been very helpful so far.

Have used Turbo Tax for years. Usually very happy with product. 2024 and 2025 PA state product has an issue with Sch. D capital gains identified by taxpayer, spouse, or joint not carrying over from Federal input, and no helpful input screens on the PA side to fix the issue. Never a problem prior to 2024. I have previous experience as a tax accountant.
