I have been using TurboTax for a number of years and purchased for my daughter as well. I would not be able to complete my return without Turbo! It covers all of the complicated computations regarding investments, capital gains, etc. with ease. I will certainly keep using TurboTax in the future.

I like how the product pre-populates values when it is able, but there are a couple of values you know from my previous state return, but you force me to dig out the paperwork to find it. Since you read my file from the previous year, there is no reason you should force me to do this. One other small thing that bothers me. I live in NH and work in MA. I don't have to file NH taxes, but need to file MA taxes. When I am filling out the MA tax questions, why does the top banner keep changing back to the amount of money owe/return for NH. It should stay in MA since that is the return I am editing.!!! One last thing. This edit box cannot keep up with my typing and removes characters I have already typed, so I have to constant hit backspace and edit my typing. Get rid of that stupid AI review topic thing. BTW: I don't type fast.

I have used Turbo Tax for almost 15 years and have enjoyed how user friendly it is for me, someone who is neither tax nor computer savvy. There have rarely been hoops to jump through that I couldn't navigate. But the big one this year was asking for an amount in box 16a for the 1099-Rs I was filing when the 1099-Rs had no box 16a and box 16 was blank. Thank goodness for AI giving me an acceptable solution or I don't know how I would have been able to file. In the future I hope Turbo Tax won't have glitches like this for people like myself.

TurboTax has a good, simple platform to file taxes. However, they have turned their platform into a intrusive add-on sales machine that constantly askes about purchasing upgrades or pushing you to their online version. Product is becoming less appealing every year.

4 of 5 instead of 5 of 5 stars due to: 1) User interface has become more complicated. 2) Asked to look up and enter info from previous tax year forms, even though I had imported the previous tax year turbotax file 3) Error message about blank state distribution on box 16 of 1099-R was cryptic and lacked context. Google says that payers are not required to fill this in, and I should enter the Gross Distribution amount in Box 1. Google says many TurboTax customers are getting this error. 4) Totals for short and long term capital gains not available in Turbotax to compare to my statements. Only the combined total was available. IIRC, Turbotax used to report the separate short and long term totals.

There are areas that are really confusing the way TT has them set up. I used AI support to make sense out of most of the process, taking screenshots and asking what to do. Specifically with regard to identifying investment income for OK. Having to edit every single one just to continue is such a waste of time. You need to recognize VARIOUS as an entry for date sold. This review is really awkward and poorly constructed!

Turbotax does not handle foreign tax credits well. If you have a brokerage account in which you paid foreign taxes in more than one country, you have to break up the 1099 for the brokerage account into multiple 1099s in turbotax - one for each country for which you paid foreign taxes. It would seem a simple fix to allow for the entry of multiple countries for any one brokerage 1099.

My overall experience with TurboTax Premier was positive; however, I encountered a system issue when I needed to log in after ending a previous session. I was asked if I wanted to install the software each time I logged in. In addition, there was a counter that was decremented by one each time I logged in. I was concerned I would not be able to log in if I exceeded the five log ins that were available to me. To avoid program log in issues, I kept the program live on my computer.

Intuit previously had a great product in Turbotax. This year 2025 (Premier) had many problems. Glitches that did not update properly or areas where it did not ask the proper questions like it did in previous years. I filled out the Maryland tax area and it reported a zero for a return until I went back into the Federal side and updated the 1099 area then it showed a figure. Previously we had to get personal identification pins and yet it did not alert me to that area to enter those numbers which it did in earlier years. I got to the transmit of file area and it said that Maryland was paid. When attempting to e-transmit the files it said the receiving area in Turbotax was busy. I had to close the product and reopen it. I tried again and this time it wanted the $25.00 for the efile of Maryland taxes. After all of that was taken care of it finally transmitted ok. I have used Turbotax for 8 years without problems. It is unlikely that I will use Turbotax next year due to all of these and more issues

I have used TurboTax for a number and years. The importing for lasts year tax data is an excellent feature. I find TurboTax easy to and I have recommended to a number of people. But this year there seemed to more software updates than in the past! I was surprised that e-file failed and had to installed a software update. Never encountered that before!
