Live expert advice for desktop did not meet my expectations especially after paying extra. When I asked for help after paying, I got the message that expert will call in 3h30 min. The expert first called after about 7-8 hours, it was almost midnight for me. When we scheduled a new time next morning, I was not near the computer at the time, I explained the questions I have at that time. When I requested reschedule after 2 hours so I can screen share, the expert said that he was busy the entire day and gave a time for following day morning. The worst part is that the person did not call me even after 30 minutes of scheduled time on next day. I had to reach out again through the tax software, got new expert after additional 20 minute wait time and explain whole problem to new expert. This is unacceptable and so much waste of my time. I feel that I would have paid only little more for a professional tax preparer if I factor in my time value.

I use TurboTax because of my investments. Investments illustrates the good and the bad of TurboTax from my point of view. Assuming that TurboTax is correct in choosing to fill out the numerous schedules and worksheets that it does, then that is a good point because I would never have had the patience to do that. On the other hand, in investments as well as other categories, there is no way for me to check on the numbers that TurboTax generates until the return is completed, so I have t have faith that they are correct as I proceed through the data entering phase.

The WA state section of the turbotax program is crappy. WA is a no state income tax state. As a resident in this state, the program should automatically bypass this section of the program as the user is going through the program. I had to loop back through it twice because the program said it'd found an error where there was no error.

Very difficult experience this year with the desktop software. Had to do my returns twice due to branching questions that went no where and called out forms that did not exist in my last year's returns. Could have been my own lack of knowledge, but have never had these issues in previous years. Seemed like the "interview" questions were not as intuitive. I gave this year's TurboTax Premier Edition a 3 because, yes, I could eventually efile my taxes, but it was a huge headache.

Although I am still very pleased with TurboTax, I had an overall feeling that this years edition was not as easy as prior years. I initially had 2 copies of my IRA/RMD information. One from importing and one from manual entry. I never had this problem before. I had a big problem getting the imports from my brokerage accounts to work. It turned out to be a problem with my pop-up settings. I had to research it on GOOGLE to solve it. I feel that the TurboTax software should have done more to point me in the right direction. Also, I wish it was possible to sort the list of charities.

Turbo Tax Premier needs to be able to incorporate additional items from broker statements such as Foreign taxes paid/accrued by country and tax-exempt income by state. I should not have to input these items manually. SDIT tax return for Ohio does not properly pick up Ohio income!

The program kept flagging errors in my return, indicating that I needed to complete the state and local codes information for their respective taxes. I do not have state or local income taxes and haven't for 4 years. This was extremely aggrevating. I tried to correct it numerous times and the software would not allow me to do anything. I have used Turbo Tax for over 30 years and have never had such an irritating issue.

The app does not make it easy to pay state income taxes. For example, after filing and during filing, there is no option to make a payment from within the app to the state, just a short message directing to some 3rd party website that accepts payments for the state.

The handling of foreign tax credits is horrible. The instructions seem to encourage skipping the credit altogether. Following the instructions requires multiple passes through the calculations to build a file that can be e-filed. This is not professional and does not build confidence in the final answer. Another issue is it is nearly to impossible to match the 1099 downloaded to Turbo Tax with the pdf download so that I know how to answer the question. In addition, question were asked to fill in numbers that Turbo Tax should know from the downloaded 1099.

The Tax Experts have been very helpful. The last Expert I talked to name was Trevor. He was very helpful on getting me to getting my refund. The product has a major flaw and I feel I should get a complete refund for the product purchase, submitting my State refund electronically and for having to pay for the Tax experts. Total cost $167.99. I chose Turbo Tax to save money and time, but could have used my tax person for almost the same amount of money to do my return for me and save all the time I have lost and frustration. I started my refund early and when I imported my W2 I had downloaded into Turbo Tax my 2024 W2 instead of my 2025. The first expert I talked to said that the software should have caught that, but I ran it a second to check to see if I over looked something and it took the wrong W2 without alerting me to the mistake. I just retired the first of the year and hoped I would have my return to keep me from taking money from my retirement for a while and keeping my investments until later, but I have had to sell earlier than expected. The reason I am giving two stars is because your help has been very helpful so far.
