Had a lot of trouble with Turbo Tax this year. Could not enter our 1099-Rs. That feature seemed to be frozen. I noticed other filers were complaining about the same thing. Also, we couldn't file because of missing updates. Why aren't updates automatically downloaded? Or at least a notification that updates were available, which is the usual procedure. Also, what if I had filed before these updates were available? Wouldn't my return be inaccurate if these updates were not included? Turbo Tax seemed unprepared this year.

Reporting pension income was confusing, i.e., the Distribution categories were regrouped and one could not select the source as we could for the 2024 tax year. The State Sales Tax did not prompt us to provide details when we first used Turbo Tax, and instead we caught the omission when comparing 2024 versus 2025 tax year and updated the form ourselves. Overall this seemed like a Beta version unlike previous years in which the TurboTax was better and more intuitive to use.

TurboTax has taken what used to be a simple, intuitive interface and turned it into something clunky! It feels like it's designed more to push paid live help than to improve file efficiently. I've used TurboTax for more than 30 years, and the 2026 version is, frankly, a disgrace!

I really value the product you create, every year. This year, for the first time, a lot of things felt just somehow "foreign," as if there had been many changes i was not aware of. The flow seemed somehow different, and the verbiage as well. I navigated everything with relative comfort, however, I think due to general experience with your products. Perhaps a quick upfront piece on "What's New This Year" right within the product would have been good. (Or maybe it was there and I jumped right over it? Ha!) Thanks for another great year, where my husband and I did NOT come to blows!!! Donna

I like that TurboTax shows me last years number versus the current year. This feature is super helpful and boosts my confidence that I got everything. I like that I can import much of my data from my brokerage and payroll provider. The extra validation checks are re-assuring like the audit risk meter and such. Why not five stars? A couple years ago I filed using the online/web product. TurboTax didn't tell me how much it would cost until I had already completed my taxes and was ready to file. I was charged more than twice as much as the desktop product for pretty much the same return as the previous year. I felt so betrayed, but I wasn't ready to spend another four hours doing it all over. Never again! In addition TurboTax doesn't seem to innovate very much from year to year. I feel like I'm only getting tax law updates between versions. That's essential but I consider it tables stakes for a tax product in 2026. What would be innovative? Build a helper AI agent custom trained or with RAG so I get answers to my tax questions with the latest info from the IRS. For example I had no idea what "qualified business income" was. Qualified for what? to win a pony? I went to the IRS site, looked up qualified business income for schedule C and then feed that along with my circumstances to ChatGPT to get a plain English answer and recommendation for how to answer. TurboTax could have done all that for me via a baked-in AI agent and said "The TurboTax agent recommends that you say yes based on your tax circumstances". It could have then provided the data sources with all the usual AI hallucinates disclaimers.

I am unable to e-file my friend's tax return. I have used turbo tax to file for him for two years with no problem. Error message keeps coming on saying there is a problem. I have deleted cache and cookies and nothing helps. Wasted time trying to make it work. Will have to file by mail. Very unhappy.

EVERYTHING WORKED FINE UNTIL I TRIED TO E-FILE MY RETURNS. ON FINAL CKECK FOR ERRORS, TURBOTAX PROGRAM KEPT TELLING MY THAT THERE WAS AN ERROR IN CA FORM 540, LINE 12 WAGES OF "9797".. iT SAID TO GO TO THE W-2 WORKSHHET AND FIX THE ERROR. I OPENED THE FORMS TAB AND LOOKED FOR A W-2 WORKSHEET. THERE WAS NONE SINCE I DID NOT HAVE ANY W-2'S OR WAGES. I TRIED PUTTING A ZERO ON LINE 12 OF FORM 540. i GOT THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE TO FIX THE FEDERAL W--2 WORKSHEET. I GOT THE SAME ERROR AGAIN. FINALLY, I DELETED THE 0 ON LINE 12 AND LEFT IT BLANK. I WAS FINALY ABLE TO E-FILE FED AND CALIFOAX RETURNS. THERE IS A GLICH SOMEWHERE IN YOUR PROGRAM.

I like the importing of my brokerage tax documents. I was a bit disappointed with the help feature. I expected it to have more of an AI feel. I wanted clarification on a schedule B Div item and it was all over the place and useless when it came down to it. I posed the question to Gemini and it gave a perfect response. It won't be long before Gemini is doing taxes. Overall I'm glad I used the product because my taxes are done.

This product is the worst iteration of Turbo Tax yet. I've used Turbo Tax for over 25 years, only occasionally trying other software. "Learn more" buttons don't work. No option not to download updates every time it opens (I prefer to download when I'm nearly done inputting). Sometimes opens assuming you want to start a new return, vs. what you've been using. And finally numerous ads to buy professional advice, which I don't need for my simple return.

TurboTax was a much better product years ago. The Help and Search features were better. For example, I searched Help for where to find the amounts of estimated tax to pay for 2026. I followed the directions to find the correct section. But the directions said to search for the phrase WHICH BROUGHT ME BACK TO THE SAME LIST OF INSTRUCTIONS. Also, we used to be able to hop from the step-by-step to the forms and be on the corresponding line. Now it just goes to the form and I have to search for the correct line.
