TurgoTax, the way to go

I use TurboTax as I am very familiar with the program (many years usage). I trust the accuracy of the program and I love the feature to go to forms. I also really like the ability to print to PDF files. I really like the software running on my own computer. I do not want to use something that runs on a server.

Turbo tax always comes through

i have been working with turbotax for 20 years and i have had hiccups over the years but the supporting tax experts have always been able to provide the required support to get me through the issue . This year there was a minor issue in filing my New York taxes but after some sleuthing with the tax expert we were able to solve the issue and all is good. the software is great and makes data input easy and intuitive. the interface is easy to follow and intuitive . The software includes all the necessary questions to complete the tax filing and make it as easy as possible with a guide to answer questions that may arise

Positive...However.

My overall experience with TurboTax Premier was positive; however, I encountered a system issue when I needed to log in after ending a previous session. I was asked if I wanted to install the software each time I logged in. In addition, there was a counter that was decremented by one each time I logged in. I was concerned I would not be able to log in if I exceeded the five log ins that were available to me. To avoid program log in issues, I kept the program live on my computer.

Joint Account Issues

Good product but issues on joint accounts

Turbotax doesn't recognize joint accounts, so downloads forms twice. This means downloading information from our financial institution doubles the entries, which then have to be manually removed. All that is needed is to check the account number with the records already downloaded. This process is troublesome and a shame as otherwise the process would be significantly easier.

Uploading previous year's tax return issue

I've used the Desktop version for the past two years and have been unable upload the previous year's return successfully. I would like to understand what I need to do to facilitate the upload. I've saved all the documents, but when attempting to upload, the error message states the file is to BIG?

Leave a trail

Need to know, in the calculations, what numbers that you entered are being used. I didn't see anywhere, as the system walked me through, the payments I already to the feds and states being taken into account to come up with what I owe. It should be easy to follow where the numbers you inputting are going.

Excellent but with some usability flaws

I had a couple of issues that made doing the taxes more dificult than it should have been. 1) when putting information for 1099-dev, 1099-int and another 1099 topic I downloaded the information from my broker. When it asked me to review the information for each, it only showed the broker name. I have 7 accounts with that broker. It should show at least PART of the account number when I get to that stage. 2) on my 1095-a , my column B was zero for all months. Although it did not affect me as i do not itemize, it would not let me enter the form as it was sent to me. (You don't believe me? I will show you) I made up a reasonable number and submitted that instead as it didn't matter. 3) If I leave the "interview method" of entering information for whatever reason, I would like a button to return me to the interview where I left off. Could not find a good way to do that other than getting out of TurboTax and returning. Other than those things, I love the product. Have been using it since I did it character based on my 286 computer under DOS. Thanks

Do not change TurboTax

We could not enter our credit card no. to pay for our state filing. Your software did not allow us to enlarge the screen to fill in necessary boxes, namely our card's expiration date. We were forced to have the fee deducted from our refund which we did not want to do.

Everything was great until I got to Foreign Tax Credit. Your instructions were a little to brief. You mentioned that their was 3 ways to handle it and you only gave instruction on 2. Trhe missing one was what to do when the total tax was less than $600.

User Interface seems to be deteriorating

The desktop version has issues with fitting font sizes in various places. The most obvious is the 'File Edit View Tools Online Help" area at the top left. I started to look at the cloud version of Turbo Tax but did not feel comfortable using it and did not like the look and feel compared to desktop version.
