This feedback is for the desktop version Turbo Tax 2025. All I can say is what happened?, did you stop investing on the download version...I see that you are pushing online. I purchased and downloaded windows version today, software crashed, on several steps, click done with income freeze, clicking done with deductions freeze and close...I re-installed to see if that would help but it did not. I have been a long time TurboTax user, I expected software to be more perfected after all these years, rather what I see is you have gone backward or intentionally lacking support for desktop version. I don't know if someone will review this, I sure would like some feedback.

TurboTax worked well as it has always done. My only criticism is that the desktop program is not available for Windows 10. I was hoping that you would make it available for Linux but if you don't make available for Windows 10 users I doubt that it will ever be available for Linux.

Although I am still very pleased with TurboTax, I had an overall feeling that this years edition was not as easy as prior years. I initially had 2 copies of my IRA/RMD information. One from importing and one from manual entry. I never had this problem before. I had a big problem getting the imports from my brokerage accounts to work. It turned out to be a problem with my pop-up settings. I had to research it on GOOGLE to solve it. I feel that the TurboTax software should have done more to point me in the right direction. Also, I wish it was possible to sort the list of charities.

Although the program seemed to prepare my taxes accurately, many problems were encountered when downloading the program, downloading company tax information(1099s, etc., purchasing state tax options and purchasing state filing charges. Frequent delays and program crashes were experienced. This was not my normal Turbotax from previous years.

Three major problems that need fixing: First, I had a late payment penalty in my estimated Federal taxes but the software did not alert me to the effect. Second, software did not annualize my federal income (but did for state) which reduced my penalty after I did it manually. Third, continually got message to not enter my personal information in the worksheets which I had not done, and did not offer steps to correct the issue. This last issue cost me hours of trying until I finally got it e-filed. While I was happy with TurboTax in prior year, I was disappointed for 2025. One final comment. Instructions and comments were not always clear this year. TurboTax need to have Technical Writers review the language.

The software appeared to generate unnecessary fixes, especially for institution supplied data where blank was submitted instead of zero. And the error did not take me directly to the proper worksheet - I had to search through the flagged document w/s to find the place to enter the "0.00" This seemed like a poor service designed to trick users into signing up for the new Help cost.

I have used Turbo Tax for probably 25 years or so .,..however long they have been around. I had more issues this year with things than in any previous year. Trying to get my EV credit into the return unsuccessfully and then having to back it out and file without it. Then I had to do an amended return and for some reason it remembered that I tried to put it in earlier and made it an nonrefundable tax credit. In short I had to do my entire return and mail in a hard copy of the amended return. Needless to say I may look elsewhere for tax software next year.

Once I got into actually filing the return, things went great. Getting there was overly difficult. My gripes: 1. I go to create an Intuit account and am redirected to create a Credit Karma account. Feels scammy! 2. Constantly being pushed to the online version over the desktop. 3. Opening a prior year .pdf from TaxAct on desktop version Mac resulted in an unhelpful "boop" noise from the speaker and nothing happening. Some weird bug where you need to go to File --> New Tax Return, then try the import again to get it to work. Needed an AI to find the solution on TurboTax's forum. 4. Be sure to put dashes in your social security number or your W2 import won't work! 5. It could have imported more things from my prior year return (carryover history), but that's a small nitpick. 6. This review input box constantly altering what I am typing.

This is the first time I have used TurboTax. It was a chore, BUT I had a cadre of amazing people helping me throughout my ordeal. I am sold on the ease of use with the caveat "after the first time". The format is simple, straightforward, and if you're well prepared, easy to navigate. I am fully committed to the 2026 program. The internal features are well articulated, and the compatibility with IRS forms is very accurate. I'm glad to have had the experience. It will be repeated.

I do my return as well as my daughters. Turbo tax confuses the states and I lost out on my one free state because it drew from my daughter's return - a state where I don't file. When I go to e-file my returns the list includes the state my daughter lives in and when I go to e-file her returns the list includes the several states I file in. The returns should be maintained completely separately.
