Buggy, Incorrect MA, INTEREST Calc.

Not the easiest. Shameful Nickel & Diming for state e-filing. Multiple credit card transactions to get to e-file documents. Why does it cost $25 when using my internet connection to submit a document? Importing documents from Etrade did not work - tried multiple times.

Software not as friendly to user inputs as prior

Software not as friendly to user inputs as prior years. On Form 1040, there is no way to apply refund to next year's tax. Only check or direct deposit are available. Line 37 to apply refund to next year is not an option. All I could do is edit in Acrobat and delete line 35a and manually enter into line 36. Prior year's software was much more user friendly. Who did you hire to mess up a good version?

Problematic Experience

Extreme difficulty in communicating with OUS Turbo Tax agents; speech speed, accents, transmission interference. Incorrect information; told my computer desktop software version not compatible with TT and I needed to buy download version. TT declined to refund me for me for desktop version stating beyond 60 day guarantee. Agent had me download TT and had difficulty with it and I reinstalled desktop and with difficulty it worked! Spent hours with TT ous agents troubleshooting TT software issues; at one point TT agent told me to contact IRS for assistance with resolving TT issues! Really? Another agent told me to consider filing an extension and pay estimated taxes to avoid penalties, monitor TT for updates to correct issues, amend my forms accordingly to correct errors. Really? That's what I expect from TT. All in all, it was very time consuming and difficult to use 2025 TT. After years of using TT, I will consider alternatives for 2027.

One suggestion, otherwise user friendly

Almost gave it 5 stars, but I found when entering Foreign Tax paid to various countries, it wasn't user friendly. I entered every country (had several) and when I went to enter the amount for each country, the full country list would disappear. I think if you placed instructions to enter each country and amount one at a time, it would have made it easier for me to figure out what was going on when they kept disappearing. Just a thought. :)

Awful

Don't waste your money. TurboTax has become a masterclass in predatory upselling. Last year, using IRS Direct File was a much smoother, honest experience. It was straightforward, free, and didn't involve being hassled to "upgrade" every five minutes. Now that we've seen how simple filing directly with the IRS can be, paying TurboTax’s exorbitant fees, especially their ridiculous $60+ charge just for state returns, feels like a total scam. Skip the corporate bloat and find a service that doesn't treat your tax return like a hostage situation.

WORST TURBO TAX PRODUCT EVER, LOSE YOUR RETURN

This was the worst year with turbo tax ever. I am seriously considering purchasing another product next year. Complete your entire return, it locks up, and then disappears and I have to start all over. It doesn't save as you go. Screw the on line feature, use the desktop. I am truly p-off. I wasted so much time and energy to have everything disappear.

Great for Federal but needs improvement for state.

TTax was great for the Federal Return, but became very difficult at the end of the state return. I had state tax due but was not required to pay a penalty. Nevertheless, TTax insisted that I fill out a form 2210AL worksheet even though the worksheet said I did not need to submit a 2210AL form. It kept asking me questions for which I did not have an answer. So, I just put $0 in all those questions to finally get out of the worksheet. This caused hours of additional work because I was trying to find answers to the questions it kept asking.

turbo tax desktop

I really love the desktop version. I tried to use the online and the fields that popped up to import my tax forms from my investment account were wrong. They asked for the document number and other fields, but when I entered them it said password incorrect and never allowed me to enter my credentials. I stopped my online entry and went back to desktop. Better screens, better help, better information

Remove some 'fear' of IRS.

TurboTax requirement to be installed on drive c: makes a two year TurboTax install, on both PC if upgrading PC, this year and next year as information does not transfer well if not installed on c: drive. There may be 'best practices' to require c: drive install but from 'user' standpoint it would be 'best' if I could install and run from 'other' than c: drive.

Federal product good; Maine product user-surly

The interview went pretty smoothly, although there was a puzzling topic regarding Canadian Registered Pension Income that no relevance to my situation. The principal reason is give only 4 stars is that the state product for Maine continues to leave the taxpayer high and dry (ie, relevant data from the federal return not transferred to the state return) in the matter of pension income limits. The state law as written is the dog's breakfast, true, but if anyone could decipher it I'd have expected TurboTax to be who did it.
