I've been using TurboTax since 2002. For the most part I find it easy to use, but some subjects could use more elaboration. It has never steered me wrong and I believe it has helped me get the correct rebate or payment I was entitled to receive/pay. I've used it for both my federal and state taxes. I prefer the desktop app, just not sure I am ready to do this all online as I find the desktop app more convenient.

Overall I do like Turbotax. However, it could use more clarifying comments and/or examples in the instructions provided. Turbotax should be understandable and useable by a 8th grader. It should be absolutley user friendly and intuitive such that an 8th grader can resonably get through it. It should be user tested to see where most users get hung up, prioritize these areas for simplification and ease of use re-engineering.

The import of the information from your W2 needs work. You need to inform your user s that the 401-K information is automatically included with your income & taxes paid. When you get to the part to do your e-file clicking the continue button initiates the e-file but the status bar does no indicate this information. The fact that you can't even ask a question about the application without being charged is unacceptable. You need to have a non-tax expert do some quality control of the application. The fact that support is not available to ask any question about the application is cheap.

I would give it zero stars if I could. Made it all the way to file my taxes and then it said I couldn't file because an update was needed. When the program closed for the update I lost all of my work and had to start completely over!! Terrible and will consider another platform next year.

Tried TurboTax online (free version?) but was not able to add all my income. Purchased TurboTax Premiere so that I could include all my income. Was done with income and ready to start next when program locked up. Lost all the data. Started again and finally able to finish on the third try.

The desktop software was easy to use, once I was able to find the correct website to download it from. Intuit's website does not make it easy to find, and was constantly pushing me to repurchase it. Something seems buggy with the interface in the income section, where it had me going through the same sections for no apparent reason. I like and trust TurboTax, but Intuit can work on providing better support without trying to push you to a consultant and pay $60 to figure out how to navigate your own software.

Very good process but just a couple of snags. Myself and others seem to have gotten hung up on the "Canadian pension" issue that may need to be corrected. It appears out of nowhere. See comments. Also there was a note to determine my Capital Loss Carryover for the state return. But there seems to be no help notes offered.

I had huge problems trying to download the desktop version. If you are going to sell a desktop version, then you should make it simple to find the download screen and stop pushing the online version. If I had wanted the online version, I would have gotten the online version. No need to try to get me to go online 5 different times. Once downloaded, everything worked fine on the Mac. The investment screens were much more confusing that the old style...not a fan. There were some other minor confusing areas, but I managed to figure them out and go back to make changes if I did it wrong. Overall still a good product, but I think the 2025 version was a bit less useable than the 2024 version.

I really like using TurboTax each year, but I will say I have had challenges with inputting information regarding my child and the use of the 529 plan. I really think there should be functionality that questions if something seems odd or not. In my case I didn't realize if did not include the right about for room and board. I entered one month versus 12 times that monthly amount. Seems like there should have been an error or call out to ask is that correct? I did something similar last year. I catch it after I file because the advice section has triggered me to go back and look back on the feedback. It highlights that I paid a penalty which then tells me I made an error. Can you look into adding some functionality. Thanks!

I'm hoping the accuracy is excellent and you will certainly hear from me if it is not. I tried the online feature first, but did not realize that I wouldn't be able to use it for my MIL and my daughter's taxes. That made me cranky. I went back to downloading it, which I found easier to use anyway. I clicked on a radio button for W4 or estimated taxes, but it wouldn't let me turn it off. Yuck.
