Some of the prompts are confusing and make you double enter your data twice even though you imported the document already. Also please work on the Mortage Crdit Certificate forms, they are very confusing and hard to figure out which interest amount I should enter. Please add area to type in your questions throughout the program would be more helpful to get live chat answers on a specific page rather than have to wait on the phone for a live person.

I think there are several bugs for rental property owners. The aggregation did not group properly and I am not confident I received the proper QBI benefit. The software also did not properly handle Form 4852. Very frustrating this year. As usual there is no support unless it is paid, not even to report bugs.

TurboTax Premier should offer more detailed advice on topics such as how to determine RMDs, whether RMDs are even required for defined-benefit pensions, how to deal with the foreign dividend tax, etc. Also, it would help a lot to include an introductory set of questions about whether the hassle of itemizing deductions is worth it. This would have saved me a couple of hours of data entry this year and last. And I live in a state with no income tax, so all of that is a waste of time.

As usual the program was pretty easy to work, the step-by-step process was a bit more cumbersome, not sure why it a changed from the 2024 version. Most of the questions I had were not answered with useful information and I had to search on the web for clearer responses, the main problem seemed to be the "suggested topics," it seldom took me to the actual answer to a question.

I had trouble at the very end when it required a final version update which disallowed my return submittal. I did not realize this until a number of weeks later when my credit card tax payment or my tax refund could be verified. Fortunately, this was before tax deadline.

They DUMBED down the PC/Mac version greatly. Yes it works and gets the job done but no more online help or online community to reference help as one example. Now Intuit keeps hawking "Live" help for $60 insteado on the front page as you work on your return. Also when you save your return apparently you can't save the numerous worksheets working behind the scenes as you are working on your return. I like referencing that detail in future years preparing my next returns. Now all you get are the sheets in your actual return as filed and a few worksheets. Where is the detail?!?! In previous years my detailed tax return file contained around 220 pages...this year I have is a scant 58 pages to save/print :(

Easy to use, conveniently fills repetitive info. We've been using Turbotax over 15 years now, and so far, no audits--knock on wood--despite having Schedules C, D, E, F, and the obnoxious 1031s. We had CPAs check our returns 2x out of 15+ years, and only because of a super complicated 1031. Not bad for DIY using Turbotax--which goes to show it's an excellent program.

Unless you know turbo tax, it is difficult to navigate. Need to ask a question and the phone number is nowhere to be found. Needed to do a web search to find the number. (very poor). Got to talk to two agents. The first one said Turbo tax is correct and the 1099 is wrong and go to the supplier of the 1099 to have it fixed. Wrong! (poor) The second agent (Justin) found the issue and led me to the correct understanding. It was me not recognizing that a number entered was being reflected in the total. Justin gets a Gold Star.. (excellent)

It seems like the web version is more capable than the desktop version. I help some of my friends do their taxes. I tried importing one friend's stock trades in the web version (which included ESPP trades), and I did the same for my daughter (who also had ESPP trades). Both accounts were at Fidelity. The web version required the 1099-B doc to be dropped into the program whereas the desktop version imported it from Fidelity. The web version was able to resolve all trades, but I had to adjust the trades that were imported. Is this because Fidelity doesn't share enough info? I also import my trades from Fidelity, and I had to manually adjust almost a hundred trades in my return.

I was disappointed this year. I've used Turbo Tax for years and never had a problem This year, importing from my brokerage account was difficult. I paid for a Turbo Tax consultation and Alicia answered all my questions and helped resolve my issues. At one point, the Turbo Tax screen froze up (on a new laptop) and I had to do a hard shut down and restart. At the end, it kept pointing out "errors" which I fixed, but it continued pointing out the "errors." It was frustrating!
