I've been using Turbo Tax for over 10 years and it have been a life safer for all those years. Each year the tax programs have continued to improve and strengthen my confidence in using it. It is very accurate in tabulating my return and features have definitely improved over the years. The compatibility with the integration of my tax forms have been spot on and easy. Although I have not reached out for any support from the staff I am put at ease knowing someone is always available to assist me if I run into any difficulties.

I have used turbo tax for 20+ years and this was the first year that I found the "learn more" explanations to be extremely non-helpful. Even pulling the form to review was not enough (usually that is all I need). Had to actually go to irs.gov and download instructions for the form I needed.

TurboTax is well researched and thorough. It has been easy to integrate the information from previous years into the current year returns. The questions asked are useful to help get the returns completed. The only drawback is when the review goes through and indicates there is a need to correct something in the forms that did not make sense. This was the only time that I experienced confusion. There was some additional research done from previous years that helped address the multiple state filings. It is no perfect but has come a long way fro what it was several years ago.

Had to report 1099-B Proceeds From Broker & Barter Exchange Transactions - Tried to import the form from the broker and it failed due to the wrong web address. The interface dialog login box showed the web address but would not allow me to edit it. So I was unable to import. I had never had to use / report capital gain/loss using this form before (RSU) and it did not include the cash out I received. I upgraded to premium from deluxe and that did not help with any of the issues above. I'm concerned that the cash I withdrew (less than $1000) will be flagged as there was no taxes deducted. The 1099-B form also did not match the instructions. I decided to spend the extra $35 for Audit Defense just in case

Generally favorable experience, however this year estimated taxes were quite confusing and rather complicated. Plus, there appears to be a known and obvious and significant error in the calculation of quarterly estimates for federal taxes that had not been corrected as of Apr 9! The vouchers for my case were about 1/4 of what they should have been, so I will have to manually enter my value and not use the TT vouchers. State was ok. That error could have incurred significant penalties next year.

I had a fantastic support rep to help me get past an error trying to pay the California $25 fee. Turns out the 3rd party cancelled my product key even though they charged my card. Once the rep generated a new product key, I was able to complete my return. Excellent user support rep.

Could not fill out of file NY State return. TurboTax Premier got in a loop, downloading the State software, then asking me to Start that return, then downloading the software,....... I'm still waiting for support to communicate a fix before I can file my NYS return.

The software is very user friendly and simplifies terms in ways that anyone not trained in accounting can understand. The process was very smooth, and the best part was being able to upload statements that automatically populated the correct fields. Using TurboTax really took out any fear of making a mistake while making my return as accurate as possible. Thank you!

Updater takes forever to run and there is no way to bypass it or really know how long it will take--the time remaining shown is not close to being accurate. Also, we were forced to pay more to update to premier unexpectantly just to include a 1099-B. I don't recall this being addressed in the packaging. Program always takes much longer to use than expected due to these unforeseen issues.

Overall TurboTax is very good, although certain areas are not user friendly. Interface on several sections, especially 1099 forms input is awkward, requiring multiple screen selections to move to a specific form input - and then when you get to the input screen, there is no header or other info that lets you know which form input you are working on. It's not obvious because it was 3 screens ago that you selected which form to input. Also specifically in these forms, the payer's tax id number, both Federal and State MUST be entered, whether this information exists or not. Past years you could leave it blank and a simple warning flag/note would appear. In 2025 it is coded as a hard stop "error" - you can't even E file until this entry is completed. The "Help Team" representative (2nd attempt) was very knowledgeable and after a few tries, managed to GUESS what I could enter and get past it, because None, NA, zeroes and several other entries don't work. The only acceptable bypass appears to be N/A, but that little information tidbit appears nowhere in instructions, help screens etc. This little programming issue should be resolved immediately.
