I was hoping for a clear, thorough walk through with lots of hand-holding to guide me through the process. I bought the Desktop Premier version thinking I would get ample built-in support for the murky areas. I didn't get it. I mostly felt that TT designed the product to encourage you to pay even more for their human help services.

We were unable to import dividend and interest data from our financial institution, Merrill Lynch, into the TurboTax software, spent more than 2 hours with TurboTax technical assistance and were still not able to resolve the problem. Also, we were unable to exclude the AZ tax exempt municipal interest on line 15 of the AZ state Form 140, Resident Personal Income Tax Return, from the total tax exempt interest reported on line 2a of the federal 1040-SR, US Income Tax Return for Seniors.

Connecting to figures that relate to each other is quite difficult for some calculations. Sometimes I had to guess where to go. I file an itemized Schedule A and Scheudle B. Doing charitable deductions is time consuming and hopefully could be made easier to do within the worksheets and forms.

The first version I had was the deluxe. The menus have changed from previous years and the flow is clunky. I ended up in loops when trying to enter sale of a house data and had to actually exit the program to escape. It turns out I had to upgrade to enter info on selling a vacation home and then still encountered some loops. The help menu was displayed in HUGE text in a small box that could not be resized so it was unreadable. The top menus had font problems, too. The words were cut in half. The prompts on screen were more for tax professionals than mere taxpayer mortals and often I had no idea what the words or initials stood for and had to just guess at the appropriate response. When asking the bot how to report a bug (the endless loop) I got unrelated ridiculous suggestions. I've probably been doing my taxes with Turbotax for 25 years, but this will probably be the last time. It was PAINFUL.

Very frustratiing experience. One screen tells me everything is complete, then later it tells me I need to enter more information. There is no way to blow past that error and no way to file without the information. AND it doesn't help you with what information shoudl be entered or where to find it.

Again, This year was a little confusing downloading and restarting but I got it done ok. Later the programed asked for another 2nd passcode-done. Again, I will be doing my son's form soon and he moved to CT during the year. i will need to add a 2nd state and hope to use the $10.00 credit, etc. I'll need to know -do I get prompted? I used Turbo Tax for years and I like that prior years info in carried to the next year. Bill46

I made a 1031 (like-kind property) Exchange last year. Filing requires a Form 8824 that's available but its Step-by-Step is hidden and there's little help. AI said to Search for "like kind" to find and use Step-by-Step. You need to create the replacement Sch E property. You must study applicable Fed Form instructions to understand given up and replacement property prices, fees, basis, and depreciation. Use Step-by-Step to answer questions and enter correct values. More detailed guidance is needed. After completing the exchange interview, switch to Forms view to verify that the Form 8824, 4797, Sch E, and depreciations are correct for both properties. I spent hours learning and trying different choices and values to get an error-free 8824 and correct forms. I called several "Connect with an expert" most couldn't help. I finally reached an enrolled agent with years of experience. We spent 5 hours figuring out how to answer the questionnaire. Later, I found the replacement property's basis was wrong resulting in a serious error in depreciation.

The software is very user friendly and simplifies terms in ways that anyone not trained in accounting can understand. The process was very smooth, and the best part was being able to upload statements that automatically populated the correct fields. Using TurboTax really took out any fear of making a mistake while making my return as accurate as possible. Thank you!

I really value the product you create, every year. This year, for the first time, a lot of things felt just somehow "foreign," as if there had been many changes i was not aware of. The flow seemed somehow different, and the verbiage as well. I navigated everything with relative comfort, however, I think due to general experience with your products. Perhaps a quick upfront piece on "What's New This Year" right within the product would have been good. (Or maybe it was there and I jumped right over it? Ha!) I mentioned this already in another review, but I don't think that I like that the Search button now starts the "AI Chat Box Assistant". I want the choice between a true Search field and an AI chat box. The old Search field brought up instantly any forms, worksheets, instructions to which I needed to refer. The AI chat box takes too long to load and seems to bring back to broad a series of topics. I prefer the straight up, type the form number and the search box takes me straight to the link. I like the AI chat box option, but it needs to be called that nominally, not the new "Search" button. Go back to what the Search button use to do, but add a separate AI Assistant button.
