Terrible experience this year. User of turbotax (TT) for over 20 years. Always had little issues here and there, but this year (tax year 2025) was the WORST! Where to start... 1) after finishing my deductions i get a pop up telling me i qualify and could save big by creating an IRA. So i did. Then after doing that (opening an IRA account for both me and spouse for $8K each) TT tells me, sorry, you don't qualify for an IRA deduction. 2) I enter all my 1099DIV forms which total up to $x. On the summary of income page for the 1099div line is indicates my summary at $y. When i mouse over the total to see what makes up the summary, it gives me $z. All three values were different, one by over $10k. Big impact to my taxable income, but no idea how to fix to the correct amount. 3) I saved my work one evening owing roughly $300 in fed tax. Next morning, I open TT and It now indicates I owe $10K in fed tax. I changed nothing! I should've filed the night before!! 4) Amounts uploaded from brokers and listed in the import section, do not match the amounts reported or listed in the income summary section, or the detail page. 5) Why are you pushing me to the website application? I don't want my data on your website. 6) And what is with the constant upselling throughout? I don't want any of it. Stop asking.

This year's version was glitchy -was unable to use side by side years comparison. Didnt take me automatically to explanations. Required additional information not supplied by brokerage on 1099R's . Forms errors offered no assistance other than paying $60 - i

TurboTax requires too much manual efforts, which I am able to get eventually figure out using GPT. If GPT can provide much better answers, why do I need Turbotax? Additionally, it was looping in the "Filing" stage, complaining I must "Delete State / Zip Code in NJ-HCC section", which was auto populated by TurboTax and never detected in the previous UIs. Very frustrating and bad experience.

Turbo tax federal return was done correctly, I reviewed the paper copy and e filed the federal return. But I will NEVER file the Turbo Tax state return again. This is the 2nd year it INCORRECTLY listed the amount of US savings bond interest for my state return, which is not taxed by my state. I very carefully entered that type of interest as Box 3 interest from my bank's 1099-int, but when I did the math on paper, it was obvious to me that turbotax combined box 1 and box 3 interest as not taxable on the state return. I'll do my return on the state website so it will be correct.

Your app did not function well, when initially began using it. Specifically, certain icons did not appear to the right of certain entries and I only knew that such icons were there when I hovered my pointer over where those icons were supposed to appear. Only after shutting down the program and restarting a few times did the icons appear (a pen/pencil and a trashcan). Further, neither my broker nor I am willing to allow TT to have access to my Vanguard accounts and you should readily provide an explanation for the options available to tax preparers like me at the very outset!

Not good product for general tax filer, it is lot of flaws. it seems the product is created for some software person, and even software professional may have problem to use this product. Every time i open the product it not open on the same where i left. It try to sync the information to online, but desktop and online version is not sync properly and I always getting alert about filing is pending. I am not comfortable to use this product.

I have used Turbo Tax for many, many years. I found this year, where it seems you were trying to simplify it, made it more difficult to enter info. And why would you assume most people don't do estimated taxes. Many of us do and I had to go find where I could enter it.

Always good enough and sometimes superb. Having done my taxes through job changes, sale / purchase of homes, brief unemployment, dependents, multiple states of residence, etc., it has ALWAYS been better since I started using Turbo Tax. Easy to use, if you have no knowledge of tax forms, but sometimes confusing if you're done the most complex things by hand. (i.e. how do "all those questions relate to the forms" has to be "let go" before I became comfortable with everything being covered by TurboTax.

Couldn't download the Turbo Tax program. First time it has ever happened!!! The support person was extremely helpful!! Stayed with the installation until complete. After finishing my Federal return, the State return wouldn't load. Support was excellent again!!! Not happy with the difficulty with the program loading.

I've used TurboTax for over 20 years to file my federal and state tax returns. I use the Premier version of the program because I invest in stocks, and the reporting requirements would be utterly impossible without assistance. I import my tax forms from my stockbroker into TurboTax, and that nightmare vanishes. Plus, I can choose whether to complete the federal and state returns through a guided interview or just the forms I need.
