Turbotax is OK.

The CA state return walkthru is poor. For such a large state I would expect it to be more like the Fed. The MA was somewhat better when I used to use that. There is not a good way to track your accrued interest for bonds which would be nice. Or at least asking about it. And charging $25 for e-file a state return is robbery. NY may have a lot of problems but outlawing this seems appropriate.

Great software but has some flaws

Both last year and this year, when I submitted my Federal tax return with TurboTax, I was notified from the IRS that my return was Rejected. I had to physically go into Deductions & Credits and under Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A) fill in the information that was required. Then refile my return with the IRS. TurboTax should be prompting me for this information as I had already listed that I had a Form 1095-A. Hopefully this can be fixed for upcoming years.

Hidden fields blocked submission. NAVGTION SUCKS

Navigation not intuitive. TT Claims I am not filing a calendar year, but I have no idea why and help was useless on this matter. TT also prevented from submitting my FDE state return. TT claimed I was missing a suffix on m y name, but I have no suffix, Per ChatGPT TT has hidden fields that can set with the user's knowledge. The only fix was 1) to add a prefix on my federal form, 2) Save this version and exit TT, 3) Restart TT and 4) Delete the prefix. This get-a-round worked after spending 4 hours fussing with TT. I am reducing my rating by 1 star for this inconvenience. Hidden fields should never be used with public software.

Really upset no longer works on Windows 10

I've used Turbo Tax since the 1990's. However this year, with the fact that the downloaded local version will NOT work on Windows 10 really a problem now. This fact cost many HOURS of extra time given I had to use 3 separate computers to compile information, go back and forth because some computers would not connect to each other and also would not network together and the some computers would not accept a USB thumb drive. In addition one of these computers is NOT able to upgrade to windows 11. NOTE I Do not want my stuff uploaded to the online version so that was not an option either. Given Windows 10 is still extendable for another year through Microsoft, it should have been supported.

Turbo Tax take a big step backwards!

I have used Turbo Tax for well over 10 years without any problems, confusion or need for Tech Support. Not true this year! First there was a problem and confusion with importing from my financial institution. While I received no errors, it kept taking me through the same process over again as I tried to moved on to the next steps. I then realized was it was performing the same import over again but as I proceeded it was not pulling in any of the info such as interest, dividends, etc. I finally contacted Tech Support who spend well over 40 minutes on this issue. Though Windows was at the current level of update, she had me apply Advanced Updates to my system and then clean up all the duplication that occurred with the previous attempts for import. I was now past that problem but found this year to have many more ambiguous or repetitive questions. At one point I skipped the step where I had to enter the sales tax for my area. I later learned that I needed to answer that question but when I stepped back though, that option was no longer included in the steps. I had to go to forms to find the line where it needed to be added. When I was completely done, all the review checks for both federal and state ran clean. However, when I hit the final button to submit my taxes, an error then popped for the state. It said that on my 1099-R, which was imported, that the "State tax withheld", line 14, could not be greater or equal to the "State Distribution", line 16. Line 16 has always been blank every other year without getting this error. I learned from a friend, who was also struggling with Turbo Tax issues this year, that I needed to enter my Gross distribution figure on this line to solve the problem and allow my submission. I also later learned from someone who uses other tax preparation software, that there was a new federal tax benefit called The Enhanced Deduction for Seniors. There was nothing in Turbo Tax to explain this benefit or give me the opportunity to see if I could have taken this benefit. The one good thing I can say is that the Tech Support person was very professional, knowledgeable and easy to work with. However, my experience with Turbo Tax this year was so much more time consuming and frustrating that I am seriously looking to go elsewhere next year.

Turbot Tax is still Very Good but Slipping

Overall, very user friendly. However, in some sections, such as Business Expenses Deductions, changes were not communicated up front but buried in a link. I only clicked on the link because I could not add another vehicle for Business Expenses. Not user friendly n this case.

Turbotax complaint

You failed to alert the tax preparer that there were additional costs associated with handling the refund until the end. Further, you sent a text message telling us that the Federal filing was rejected but didn't tell us why. Was the taxes package sent and who rejected them? We completed them according to program instructions. This is about 6th year we have used Turbotax and maybe the last.

Turbo Tax--good but still flawed

This year was a mess as opposed to last year. This year forms from my financial institutions weren't uploaded correctly, and some questions were not correct (eligibility for the Trump account was incorrectly stated). As a result, it took me around 4.5 hours to complete it.

Frustrating 1099 with option trades

The 1099 inputs are very time consuming and frustrating for the user especially if you have hundreds of option trades. TurboTax needs to recognize through the description option trades and ignore $0 cost basis since the net gain/loss amount is already calculated on the 1099. TurboTax also does not allow the user to do sufficient bulk updates on the 1099 form to make the "Review Needed" error go away.

I'm confused

I'm doing multi-state filing using the software, and was very confused as the software made me choose the resident/non-resident option when other AI tools were telling me to choose partial resident filing due to my partial existence between different states. That led me to pay extra for possible defense and confirmation, but software itself gave me little confidence while navigating
