TurboTax Problem

Was extremely difficult to transmit e-files, as the program kept telling me to change items, and when changed, told me to change them back. For some reason, which I don't know why, EVENTUALLY, the returns got e-filed! Spent (and wasted) a lot of time because this was happening.

I would like to use TurboTax but can't

I think it's the best general public tax prep software available. However, purchasing the annual Turbo tax product now and for some time has required that I use my Intiut password. Since I used TurboTax for many years, the need to use an Intuit password when that presented itself posed an insurmountable challenge since I never had one and the 'forgot your password' function is circular. I asked to change it, was not given a chance to do so, and was immediately returned to the login screen and asked to enter my password. HR Block has stolen a march from you because I'm sure that many others have faced the same challenge as I did. Please fix your 'change password.' I'm sure that I speak for many who would appreciate that and use TurboTax again because it really is the better product.

TurboTax Works for Me!

The web developers need to correct the payment page (where you enter credit card information). The drop down for the month of the expiration date does not show 9 -12 for selection. I had to use a different card because after 5 minutes of playing with it I was able to select the number 10. This is not acceptable!

Annoying features that company doesn't fix

Turbotax has annoying features that the company doesn't fix. 1) You should be able to opt out of auto update and 2) having duplicate EIN numbers for W2s sometimes happens (home care to both parents) but shows up as an error that prevents e-filing. Reported these LAST YEAR but no fix!

Last year for Turbotax...

You Discontinued It's Deductible!!! Serious flaw in software!!! You wanted me to file standard deduction. Had I done so, I would have lost almost $900 dollars of refund!!! Help in software nonexistent. Blatant way to get folks to buy Advice. "Free" State filing that costs $25!

hard to reach for support

I kept getting a software error when trying to enter one of the forms. Needed to reach a live person for help, but Turbo Tax made that quite difficult to do. After I finally found the customer service number, the AI prompt doesn't transfer me to live person and kept saying it doesn't understand my answer to its question. Once I get a live person to help, we spent close to two hours on the phone to work around that software error, but ultimately fixed my issue though.

Turbotax doesn't fix know issues

You need to allow an override of "issues" for efiling. Last year I reported that having two EIN entries with the same number sometimes happens with home care work (both parents) but your software doesn't allow efiling with this situation. NOT FIXED!! I will need to print return again to file.

Do not check SS boxes as living outside the USA

Didn't catch the error of me incorrectly checking boxes for ss income as that I lived outside the country. Funny that the IRS caught that error and TT didn't. My mistake but come on, my original info. indicated that I only lived in the USA, not some other country, ever. I would have thought that TT would have had a qualifying question regarding that issue as it greatly affected my return, instead of getting over $9000 back, I got less than $1600 because I did have to pay taxes on 85% of my SS income. Greatly disappointed in TT this year, this little error of inadvertently checking those boxes as yes instead of no has caused me many many hours of extra work to pursue it with the IRS in getting a transcript and copy of the corrected return to figure out why such a difference in my refund amount. A simple mistake that could have been avoided by TT asking are you sure you lived outside the USA as this is highly unusual, or something similar. Disappointed in TT.

The Turbo Tax software needs many corrections

The interview process is unreliable; e.g., we had to check many times to see if what we had entered in the interview actually held, because after we had saved and closed Turbo and then returned to it we found many times that we had to repeat our entries. There were other inconsistencies, such as: 1) Turbo asking us for in-put on a (mystery) Canadian retirement plan which we not indicated we had; and one of the tax summaries having data which was inconsistent with the correct data. We wonder if Turbo had gone over board with AI; and was getting back hallucinations.

Method of charging Refund Processing Fee is Shady

I have no qualms about the accuracy of Turbo Tax as a tax preparation software. However, this year two "new" things presented. First, when I tried to download the software as I have over the years, it tried to put me in an online tax prep portal to put my info in their cloud-which I did not want. The software was cumbersome to get around that so that I could just prepare and file as usual. The second was a "refund processing fee of $45 to have the $25 State filing fee be taken from my federal refund. That was not disclosed until the very end and had I known I would have just paid with a credit card at the outset. Instead, I had to back out and figure out where I could proceed to pay the $25 with a card to avoid the $45 fee. What a shady practice. Not happy. I may not return next year after at least 15 years of using Turbo Tax.
