They have changed it. The French Silk pie used to have a regular pie crust, thick and rich satiny filling, with whipped topping. It tasted more like a Baker's Square pie. The new pie is nothing like it used to be. The chocolate crust tastes like dried brownie clumped together, the filling is like chocolate pudding, the whipped topping remains the same. French Silk was only available half of the year. I waited for it. I was VERY DISSAPPOINTED.

This pie was such a disappointment. I actually thew about half away. The cream topping was not good at all and we preferred the crust used last year. The previous recipe was fantastic..we bought 2 of those last year. I will not be buying any next year if rhe current version is offered.

Pie shrinkage but no price shrinkage

December 9, 2025 - These pies have been SIGNIFICANTLY reduced in size - 'm talking about 2" I think they thought no one would notice the decrease in size, no decrease in price of course, and they put a super tall plastic dome cover on it to try to mask the shrinkage. It seems the recipe has also changed. It's not as firm of a pie as it was in the past, honestly my family is really disappointed, we all look forward to this, and it only comes out around Christmas, so you wait all year, tapping your toe for these pies to appear in the store again, only to be let down. Three stars for that, and why are they seasonal anyhow, what's seasonal about chocolate? I don't understand. In 2024 and all the other years prior we would've given five stars for this pie for a multitude of reasons, but highly disappointed in it overall this year. Please don't assume your customers are too naive to notice the size shrinkage, but not a reduction in price - oh and the big dome lid didn't work, it's still obviously a ton smaller. Fix that, because you've made it no longer a good value.

Totally different this year …so disappointed!

We look forward to this pie every Christmas. All of us tasted the one piece….We could tell right away by cutting it that it was different… it had a chocolate crust this year and it was creamier than usual. It was like pure pudding… Not silk, and it had a minty taste to it…yuk!

a chocolate cream pie this is not. The silk pie appears to be fanatastic with a delicious chocolate cream filling contained within a nice pie shell, BUT, what appears to be a whipped cream topping is anything but that for a topping! Cool Whip would be a delicious covering instead of the garbage used on these pies by Sam's. A few years ago, I purchased them around the holidays. This year, I bought two, one for a Christmas party event and the other for home use. At the event, I noticed there were remains left in its container. After eating some of the one at home I realized it was a disappointment. I will not purchase these from Sam's unless they revert to whipped cream topping used a few years ago. Buy your chocolate cream pies somewhere else, don't waste your money at Sam's Club on their "Silk Pies"!

Bring back the original! If its good and it sells leave it alone. We look forward to FRENCH Silk Pie each season and we are extremely dissapointed. Sams keeps making changes to the good stuff for no reason...like the cinnamon rolls debacle. Please bring French Silk back.

What are you thinking, Sams club?

Like everyone else, we have been awaiting the return of the french silk pie. Whoever thought this change was a good idea should be looking for a new job. What a disappointment. The filling is runny and disgusting. Into the trash it goes. Do yourself a favor and buy the $5 Marie Callander chocolate pie.

It has changed for the worse.

I have looked forward to the french silk pie for the past few years. I was so disappointed when I purchased one today. It's smaller, for one thing, but most importantly, it doesn't taste anything like the pie of past years. It used to be rich and chocolaty, now it thin, kind of runny, and fairly tasteless. It more like Cool Whip with some chocolate mixed in.

Yuck

The changes you made to this seasonal pie are terrible. The chocolate cookie crust is disgusting. It changed the entire taste of this once tasty and sought after pies. It almost has a plastic aftertaste flavor now. Read and look at your reviews now. Whoever made this decision ought to be demoted at the very least. You've taken away something I look forward to purchasing from Sam's every year. I will not be buying this again until it is Changed back. Shame on you. Just tuck.

So disappointed that Sam's has changed this pie. The biggest issue is the crust. It used to be flaky; now it's like a soggy Oreo. Chocolete filling is runny and lacks the flavor of their original French Silk pie.The whipped cream topping is gummy and flavorless. PLEASE bring back the old recipe!
