I can be a bit sensitive to fabric softeners, so I love that this one doesn’t irritate my skin or affect my allergies. The fact that there’s no scent is perfect because it won’t compete with soaps. The packaging is very simple and effective. This bottle is not too bulky, has a good size handle for easy pouring, a well designed spout that eliminates splashing, and an easy to cap that doubles as the measuring cup. A small amount goes a long way so that there’s not a lot of waste. That small amount makes my towels and sheets incredibly soft.

Towels and sheets came out soft and fluffy. When I put the folded towels, washed with Downy Free and Gentle, in my linen closet, they were twice as fluffy as the towels I previously washed without Downy Free and Gentle. My sheets were also so soft and comfy. Best of all, NO allergic reaction to a new product.

Until now: Downy Free and Gentle Liquid Fabric Conditioner makes my life so much easier. I can now wash everything together, using laundry detergent and a conditioner without worrying that my sons skin will be irritated. As a parent, things can get pretty busy and especially a task like laundry should not take a lot of time in a busy schedule. Having to load only one instead of two machine loads of laundry, I can now do only one load and save so much time. Downy Free and Gentle Fabric Conditioner does not irritate skin, smells fresh and clean and makes clothes feel so soft. I would recommend this product especially to people (and babies) with really sensitive skin, because this conditioner would not let you down.

In the early morning before I was fully awake, I poured a capful of fabric softener (Downey Free) directly onto the clothes thinking it was the detergent. Not thinking this was a big problem, I washed and dried the load and then found fabric softener stains all over my favorite clothes. If anyone knows of a way to remove these stains, please tell me.

It made my clothes feel so soft and I wasn’t worried about them stretching. It was nice to use a product that didn’t make me sneeze or break out in hives like some have.

So, when I tried this softener, I used it on a load of towels. The towels felt softer than usual, and it seemed to help remove all that excess lint as well. I was surprised by the effects of this softener and am glad my favorite brand offers something for allergy sufferers. My husband has eczema and was unable to use most soap and softeners. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First, I really like the fact that Downy Free & Gentle has no added dyes or scents, I really think they are unnecessary. I've been using detergents without those additives, and now there is a fabric softener that does the same thing! Hooray! I've actually stayed away from fabric softeners recently because they have way too much scent. I've used it on about 5 loads so far, underwear, towels, dress shirts, pants. They all seem to have come out in better shape than I expected. Can't wait to use it on more fabrics and items - wondering if using it on my throw rugs will help them stay clean longer, as fabric softeners tend to make them seem like they get dirtier sooner. The other problem I've had with liquid fabric softeners is that while they make the clothes soft and fluffy, there is also a bit of a heaviness to them, like they've absorbed the softener into the fabric. But Downey Free & Gentle seems different. the clothes are soft. They are fluffy. But there is nothing that seems heavy, which is really nice.
