I have been using the free & sensitive downy for years without issue. The last bottle I bought, though, had the consistency of water and has not had the same softening effect as in the past. Bummer. Anyone have recommendations for lower-chemical alternatives?

This is my go-to fabric softener. I have sensitive skin so having stuff with scent on it causes breakouts for me. So seeing that downy made an unscented one was a big game changer for me. I love that it is a good value for what you get. And I love how my skin doesn't break out and I don't have to go without fabric softener and have stiff clothes.

My whole family loves this fabric softener. The clothes are just as soft as if I used original downy. Give it a try, I know you'll like it.

Sometimes the scents bother me especially when coupled with a perfume. This is great!! It works perfectly. The clothes and towels are still very soft without all the fragrance.

We have three generations in our family who can use nothing but Downy Free & Gentle because of skin sensitivities and allergies. Because it is fragrance free, it allows the beautiful smell of our Dreft Detergent to come through. The combination of Dreft and Downy results in soft, lightly Dreft scented, comfortable clothes and bedding. Downy please do not ever change it. We depend on you for loyalty to your customers who can only use this one softener. IT IS PERFECT! To reviewer with thick Downy, never expose it to heat or cold temperatures as it will make it thick, just like the instructions and internet warnings say.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using Downy Free and Gental liquid fabric softener for the first time over the past few weeks. I have to say I am sold! I have, for the most part, always used dryer sheets, no more. I used Downy for all laundry loads, clothing, towels, bedding etc. Everything came out soft and comfortable. I used the both the dryer and air dried my laundry. The items I air dried were just as soft as items dried in the dryer. This has never been the case for dryer sheets and I don’t miss the random finding dryer sheets stuck in clothing or blankets at a later date. I will say, I was a little worried about the Downy liquid fabric softener behing scent free (I’ve always like scented laundry products)but I never once missed it. So excited to have a new product I will be putting on my shopping list ... Downy Free and Ckear fabric softener.

I loved fabric softeners for making my clothes soft, but my skin started getting irritated by the scents. I'm so glad I got to try this product. I have other family members who are very sensitive to scents too and recommended this product. This is an amazing product of you want soft clothes and towels without the harsh scents.

He has very sensitive skin but... this product didn’t bother him at all! I’m thrilled to be able to use a fabric softener again. In fact, I’ve been washing everything I can get my hands on! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Both of my children ( ages 9 and 3) suffer from eczema and certain laundry soaps and softeners tend to cause flare up in my youngest. However,after several uses this product has proven to not give her skin problems unlike other products in the market. I will start recommending this to my friends that have children with sensitive skin and newborns.
