Highly recommend this product for washing baby clothes, young kids or any one with an allergic reaction to chemicals or perfumes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Although Downy Free and Gentle Liquid Fabric Conditioner is great for people with sensitive skin/allergies or for newborns, my clothes came out of the dryer with static. The smell out of the container is a little off-putting but comes out scent free when clothes are dry. I would consider getting it if I have a newborn again but otherwise it is not as soft and creates static which my regular fabric softener does not.

I have been using Downy Free & Senstitive liquid for quite a few years and have generally never had problems with it but recently I had to throw away several shirts due to staining. I use the Downy ball and only fill up to the medium load line (I never go above this line for fear that I will use too much plus it is expensive). But I washed my load of clothes and dried them like I normally do and to my surprise I had several shirts that had greasy stains on them. So I washed them again without softener but used detergent twice and they were still stained and the fabric was now sticky feeling so I had no choice but to throw them away. Does the fabric softener go bad after a while? I'll admit I've had this bottle for a while (maybe 6-8 months) but I've never had this issue before. Because of this I might have switch to something else and throw out the rest of my 100+oz bottle.

I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of overpowering scent so I liberally poured it in as per the instructions on the bottle. For the first was I used it on a wool throw and some pillow cases, the throw can be a little stiff after it has been washed but this time it was buttery soft. I will be trying it next with my sheets....

To start, I have very sensitive skin. I don't usually like changing things like body wash, face wash, lotion, and laundry detergent because that change is usually followed by a skin breakout. So I was hesitant at first to try the Downy Free and Gentle. Having used it for 2 weeks, I have not had any adverse skin reactions and my laundry is still nice and soft. I didn't expect the liquid to be so runny though. I think I may have used too much in the beginning as a result. I would buy Downy Free and Gentle again if it were on sale or I had a coupon since it's not really different enough from what I already use.

I would like a downy without perfumes that isn't just unscented. There are many was to add a natural scents w/o adding perfumes. Aloe, lavender, citrus are just a few. It would be nice to see something like this come from a large company like downy. I would love to see a naturaly scented downy vs the new overloaded scented perfume beads.
