Almost Perfect!

My son has an egg allergy so I was very happy when I found this product! I was waiting to try this product with different recipes before writing a review. I find it to be a GREAT egg replacer for most things but - in my experience - it doesn't work well with all kinds of baked goods. It's great for pancakes, liege waffles, donuts, and crepes. My issue with cookies, brownies, and (a little bit with) cakes is that it 'deflates' the final product and it leaves it extra greasy. Maybe I need to adjust the recipe? Still haven't been able to figure it out. My next project is bread... Either way, I like it and I always keep an extra bag in my pantry.

Very disappointed

So far, I’ve tried the egg replacer with brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and muffins, recipes that I have made many times, and none of them have come out well. They always seem underbaked when cooked to the appropriate time, and if I cook them longer, it ends up hard as rocks and still looking underbaked. Since this seems to work for some people, I have to imagine there is some trick that isn’t in the instructions. Would love some trouble shooting advise. I think of Bob’s red mill as a premium brand, so I’m very disappointed that this does not work when following the instructions to the letter.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any issues and frustration that you’ve experienced with our Gluten Free Egg Replacer and thank you for letting us know. Our Gluten Free Egg Replacer can be used in many applications, but generally, it works best in recipes for baked goods that use 3 eggs or less. Baked goods get a lot of structure from eggs so if a recipe calls for more than 3 eggs, or whipped eggs/egg whites, they’ll be harder to replace in a recipe. Recipes that are low in flour compared to eggs, like some brownie recipes may also be harder to modify. Whatever the issue, our products are always guaranteed and we are happy to assist further and you can reach us at customerservice@bobsredmill.com.

No eggs? This is great

Let's face it, many of us are using this time of being limited on eggs to experiment with egg replacements. Bobs Red Mill Egg Replacer is working great in many of my baking recipes. It's a time of experimenting with it but I am thrilled with the results so far.

Not as advertised!

Used this for cookies, as per the uses on the package. The recipe called for 1 egg, i followed the directions. Totally ruined them! They fell apart and tasted funny.

Works well and tastes good

This works great except for sugar cookies. We couldn't get the dough to bind together. For everything else it works great. You would think real eggs were used.

Wor

I used this product to replace the eggs in pecan pie filling and it was a disaster! The pie over flowed in the oven, was a mess the day before Thanksgiving!

Egg Allergy

I have a food allergy to eggs. I can eat them but they upset my stomach. Baked goods less so but I was curious about using a replacer. This one worked perfectly with a muffin recipe I tried. Will use again!

Not sure what to make with these.

I used them today with a boxed mix of brownies. I followed directions to the letter. I wanted to like this as we bake a lot. Well it did not come out well. The middle was raw and the taste was so sub par.

Don't use egg replacement

I used this in Bob's Red Mill brownie mix and it came out horribly! It separated, cooked unevenly and did not taste good. I threw the whole pan out.

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to hear you had these results. Some recipes may rely more on the properties of eggs/egg whites to dry and create structure than others. If the recipe is lower in flour or calls for a high number of eggs (3+), like some brownie recipes, then using an egg replacer powder may cause inconsistent results and a vegan-specific recipe may be a better fit.
