Perfect for what I need!

I bought 2 of these units today after spending hours trying to find a plastic unit that would fit 2 totes on one shelf. This was the next best thing, however VERY heavy! I am a single lady, & I was able to get it out of the back of my car, into the house, & down to the basement by rocking it from side to side. I think my back maybe going out, but the shelves are up! The directions were a little frustrating. Step 1 should be putting the little soft plastic L shaped things in the bottom of the posts that will be touching the groud. Those were frustrating to put in as they are not a perfect fit. The rest of the directions were fine. I did not have a rubber mallet like pictured in the directions, I just pushed the bars in place with my hands and feet and it worked. It took me 45 minutes to put the first shelf together by myself & only 20 minutes to put the second shelf together by myself. Putting in the soft plastic L's first was a big time saver. I was able to put 2 Sterilite, 70 QT EZ Carry, Clear/ Spicy Lime totes from Walmart on 1 shelf with some room to spare. I added a pack n play to the end of that same shelf & it all fit! If you are looking to use these same totes, I can save you some time & tell you that you need to space the shelves 10 full spaces away. I was not able to add a top shelf to the unit because I wanted to fit as many totes as possible. These are very reasonably priced & I think they will hold up for a long time!

Best in class

I've bought several different brands of this type of shelving. All are constructed in similar fashion and assembled in much the same way. What varies is the thickness of the uprights, the type of shelving inserts (usually particle board) and the connectors (if any) that join the the two uprights. The shelving inserts on this unit are the best I've seen, substantially heavier than most, and with a black finish rather than just plain particleboard which may reduce chipping. The uprights are standard in thickness, adequate to need. A connector to join the two 3' sections is included that makes me feel much more comfortable about the stability of the assembled unit. The pieces all fit together much more easily than on any of the other brands. It was the same assembly process - these just seemed to be manufactured to a more exact tolerance. The regular price I bought at was at the low end of the range for these units. After putting the first together, I went back and bought three more. If this is the type of shelving unit you need, this is the one to buy.

New stock has a manufacturer defect piece.

I bought two of these shelves originally and I loved them went back two weeks later and bought two more but the silver connector that allows you to make them five high doesn’t fit so I returned them. What a hassle! When I went back to the rest of the boxes they were all the same.

Great rack

I bought these after redoing them for a friend. They put it together wrong had some of the uprights slots in the wrong direction shelf would fall out. After it was rebuilt they loved them. I did 3 units had them assembled in hour each. That included moving the my junk and putting them on the rack. I also attached them to the wall studs.

Decent Shelf Unit

Just finished putting this together, and have to agree with those who are concerned about the shelves being somewhat loose. Had on hand but never needed my mallet for assembly as the tabs just fell into place, leaving the shelves easy to lift off the corners. To remedy this, I installed 2 self-tapping metal screws (like those used with A/C ducts) in opposite corners of each shelf. The only problem with the unit was solved. A real nice unit especially for the price.

Ugh. Not sure about these.

These were a new purchase. Assembly was difficult. The pieces did not fit together well. Also very concerned with the flimsy piece that holds the top and the bottom together. They will be okay if we never have to move them, but if you lift on the wrong spot, you're going to separate the top from the bottom. Also the instructions really are awful. It appears that there is more than one supplier for this item based on the disparity in quality.

Member's Mark 5-Shelf Storage Rack

I have 3 of these racks, 2 in my garage and 1 in my shed. Easy to clean and slide things on to as they have a formica type of coating on each shelf. Of course I paid less than the current price, but they are awesome. I don't need a shelving unit that holds 10,000 lbs. that costs twice as much.

Falls apart while assembling.

The rivets are too loose once set in the posts, install one beam/brace and go work on another and the first one slips out of its slots (and yes, I am tapping them down as far as they go). Incredibly frustrating. There needs to be a way to lock these in place more securely. Give me bolts and nuts any day.

easy enough to assembly - pain to get replacement

I purchased three. Shipping took 12 days. Assembly is not the easiest with only one person, but its doable. The biggest pain is one of the parts, a C-post coupler, was bent incorrectly and didn't fit. After several attempts to contact the Sam's Club customer number for replacement parts, I was finally given an email address to the manufacture, in Taiwan. I've emailed them for the part, but will likely have to wait several weeks. I'll most likely end up going to the store to swap parts when these are back in stock. I'm sure it will be quicker.
