Falls apart while assembling.

The rivets are too loose once set in the posts, install one beam/brace and go work on another and the first one slips out of its slots (and yes, I am tapping them down as far as they go). Incredibly frustrating. There needs to be a way to lock these in place more securely. Give me bolts and nuts any day.

Ugh. Not sure about these.

These were a new purchase. Assembly was difficult. The pieces did not fit together well. Also very concerned with the flimsy piece that holds the top and the bottom together. They will be okay if we never have to move them, but if you lift on the wrong spot, you're going to separate the top from the bottom. Also the instructions really are awful. It appears that there is more than one supplier for this item based on the disparity in quality.

flimsy and cheap

NOT a muscle rack, not even close. Cross beams that hold the boards are flimsy, like they twist and flex. Don't know what they are made of but a magnet will not stick to them . I wouldn't trust them to hold much weight. Don't worry about dinging the paint on the boards. They come conveniently pre-dinged straight out of the box.

Total piece of junk

The parts i got are defective. Half of the longer beams are a half inch too short and the shelf cannot be assembled where they are all stacked on top of each other. Compared to the shelves they used to sell the quality of these ones is significantly less. The metal parts are very thin compared to ones i bought before. Will be returning this.

Has the material changed?

I bought these thinking they were an upgrade to the uncoated version that had the exposed holes for shelf assembly. They old ones were solid, heavy and didn’t move. These new ones don’t seem to be steel, unless thin enough to be pliable and bends easily like aluminum. They seem to hold the weight well but twist and flex with any movement. Concerned about stability and safety with children in the garage. May need to return or anchor them to the wall and have never had to consider that with other similar shelving. Anyone else have this experience? (I am skilled at projects and even used a mallet to ensure all shelves we locked in).

You will be disappointed

The reason I am giving this 2 stars instead of one, is because the structure itself has a good quality. But if you order online, like I did, most likely some of the wooden shelves will arrive damaged. So, you will be disappointed. Now, let us be honest. The price is very competitive, specially comparing with the plastic ones.

very sturdy but…..

Very sturdy. Fairly easy to put together. But boxes are very heavy and cumbersome. I tell you this so you understand that by the time I got them home, unloaded, cut open and ready to assemble, I’m just dealing with the fact that the shelves themselves are busted and cracked. Disappointing, but not worth disassembling, packing it back up and driving 30 minutes to return.

Pretty good storage unit

I recently purchased one of the five shelf storage units. According to the online information it should have been a Members Mark brand, but upon arrival at the store, I found it was another brand, but decided to try it anyway! The unit went together fairly easy, however you need to be gentle when trying to insert the shelves, they have a tight fit especially in the corners where the rivets from the beams meet the corners! The only issue I have with the shelves was the connector used to connect the upper shelf unit to to bottom shelf unit! The plastic inserts are insufficient to stabilize the unit, so I used some small metal strips to secure the units together! This should be something the manufacturer provides! Overall the units worked out well and I would purchase again!

Amazing quality for the price!

Before I got this Storage rack (I bought 3), I'd had 12 other racks from various manufacturers. The Member's Mark racks put the others to shame. Very well packed, nothing missing/broken. And the racks themselves! Hammered grey finish, with a neat design on the uprights that hides the holes/tabs on the inside. I'm sure the shelves are particle board, but they are laminated on both sides and all of the edges for a sleek look. I saw some people thought it was wobbly or fell apart- VERY IMPORTANT TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS! Make sure each piece snaps in place (I use a rubber hammer), and you must place a shelf at the seam if making an "Upright" shelf. Will definitely buy again!

Best shelves for the money!

I've got several of these shelves for my garage and basement and never had a single problem with them. Great quality and they sustain a lot of weight! You can configure the shelves to whatever heights you would like. Very easy to assemble and at a great price - for high quality shelves.
