Sorry - Not worth the money

I've had this shelf for 7 months now. And I can confidently say, it isn't worth the price. I feel the people writing reviews are being paid to. 1st, the shelves are thin particle board, I broke one in half with 1 arm getting it out the box. Do you really think it will hold 800 lbs, uh no! 2nd, even when you get it built, do not move it or lean on it, cause the brackets will shift, causing it to go all kinds of crooked. Straight junk!

Quality has went down very much.

I bought these 2 years ago and they were so amazing. I needed some more and bought two more and the qualities went down significantly. The paint finish wasn't as good and the shelves instead of being plastic are particle board that is plastic coated. My biggest complaint is the connector for the vertical pieces used to be a steel piece about 4 in long and now it's a plastic piece less than an inch long. This makes it much more difficult to assemble.

Ugh. Not sure about these.

These were a new purchase. Assembly was difficult. The pieces did not fit together well. Also very concerned with the flimsy piece that holds the top and the bottom together. They will be okay if we never have to move them, but if you lift on the wrong spot, you're going to separate the top from the bottom. Also the instructions really are awful. It appears that there is more than one supplier for this item based on the disparity in quality.

Love it!

I bought this shelf to put in my garage to hold my stockpile items from couponing. Setup was easy and it easy holds all of my items. I loved it so much that I bought my mom one for her stockpile. I don't like that the price went up but I loved it enough that I was willing to pay the extra money to have it.

Don't get me started

Let me say, that this recommends using a rubber mallet. I didn't see that until I bought it. I don't have one, and I needed to get this put together ASAP so we're skipping that part, I think how hard can it be. GET A RUBBER MALLET. I spent probably an hour just trying to get the first section put together. 4 bars, 1 shelf. An hour. And even that took the lord, a hammer, and the entire marine Corp. I was sweating. Had to take it apart and reassemble it several times because it was turned the wrong way, guess I can't read. Anyways, I still couldn't get the rivets in one side, I gave up. Close enough. Then I had to take a break before I decided to wrestle with the other 4 shelves. I haven't finished, I had to stop and warn others of my suffering. Idk what others are doing to get this put together hassle free, maybe some kind of wizardry. The actual quality is good, I think it'll hold the weight I need but next time I'm finding one that uses screws. This has been such an event.

Do not buy the newer version!

I purchased multiple racks over the years and the new ones, which you can identify easily because they are black, are horrible. The metal in thinner and the connecting pieces use to be metal, but now are plastic and super flimsy. When I use a rubber mallet to install the horizontal pieces, they bend easily. I had to bend the pieces back.

Worth theh money

Tonight I bought 4 of these shelves, the staff were so kind that they helped to load them on the flat cart, easy installatio and i believe it's Good quality. I put 4 stars as I wish the designer would consider adding diagonal bracing to protect the shelves from getting damaged due to movement or excessive usage, currently I'm thinking of adding a some bar or some wood plank diagonaly to make the whole thing stable, this is an engineering basic principle, i hope the designers will consider adding to the current buyers and for future products,

Perfect for what I need!

I bought 2 of these units today after spending hours trying to find a plastic unit that would fit 2 totes on one shelf. This was the next best thing, however VERY heavy! I am a single lady, & I was able to get it out of the back of my car, into the house, & down to the basement by rocking it from side to side. I think my back maybe going out, but the shelves are up! The directions were a little frustrating. Step 1 should be putting the little soft plastic L shaped things in the bottom of the posts that will be touching the groud. Those were frustrating to put in as they are not a perfect fit. The rest of the directions were fine. I did not have a rubber mallet like pictured in the directions, I just pushed the bars in place with my hands and feet and it worked. It took me 45 minutes to put the first shelf together by myself & only 20 minutes to put the second shelf together by myself. Putting in the soft plastic L's first was a big time saver. I was able to put 2 Sterilite, 70 QT EZ Carry, Clear/ Spicy Lime totes from Walmart on 1 shelf with some room to spare. I added a pack n play to the end of that same shelf & it all fit! If you are looking to use these same totes, I can save you some time & tell you that you need to space the shelves 10 full spaces away. I was not able to add a top shelf to the unit because I wanted to fit as many totes as possible. These are very reasonably priced & I think they will hold up for a long time!

Has the material changed?

I bought these thinking they were an upgrade to the uncoated version that had the exposed holes for shelf assembly. They old ones were solid, heavy and didn’t move. These new ones don’t seem to be steel, unless thin enough to be pliable and bends easily like aluminum. They seem to hold the weight well but twist and flex with any movement. Concerned about stability and safety with children in the garage. May need to return or anchor them to the wall and have never had to consider that with other similar shelving. Anyone else have this experience? (I am skilled at projects and even used a mallet to ensure all shelves we locked in).

Great Value shelves

We have a dozen of these shelves in our pottery studio and load them up with 200lbs on each shelf with no issues. The shelves do seem thin, but they hold everything fine. The units can be installed as shown, or 2 half height units. Are they as good as gorilla shelves? No, but they are also half the price.
