Sorry - Not worth the money

I've had this shelf for 7 months now. And I can confidently say, it isn't worth the price. I feel the people writing reviews are being paid to. 1st, the shelves are thin particle board, I broke one in half with 1 arm getting it out the box. Do you really think it will hold 800 lbs, uh no! 2nd, even when you get it built, do not move it or lean on it, cause the brackets will shift, causing it to go all kinds of crooked. Straight junk!

Nice shelves if you can get them....

Pros: -Easy to assemble -Sturdy Cons: -Wooden shelves arrived chipped on corners -I would not trust the 800 lb. weight capacity per shelf -I bought 4 of these online when they were on sale, and I only received one. Once the item became out of stock, my order was automatically canceled. (Side Note: there were 24 available in my local club) Now it is my problem to re-order once the shelves become available. The sale price will not be honored. Terrible customer service with this experience. My local Club and Online Customer Service could not rectify this issue. Don't be enticed with free shipping. Buy in the store if you really want the storage rack. Overall, the shelf is not bad for the price

Very sturdy and nice looking

I bought four of these at my local Sam's store. Allow about an hour to assemble the first unit. Subsequent units should go quicker. It would be good to have a helper when first starting the assembly to keep the upright pieces from falling over. Once you get it started it goes really fast. The hardest part is putting the plastic protectors in the ends of the uprights. Design is solid and they look great in my business' shipping room. These shelves look good enough to be used as furniture in a kids bedroom.

Excellent Value

These are a fantastic investment for all your storage needs. I have bought nearly a dozen now and they are worth every penny. I have 6 in my garage, 1 in my office and 4 more in my 18x14 shed. They are very easy to put together, hold more weight then I'll ever need them for and function perfectly. I've never seen better shelving for even twice the money. You won't be disappointed!

Pretty good storage unit

I recently purchased one of the five shelf storage units. According to the online information it should have been a Members Mark brand, but upon arrival at the store, I found it was another brand, but decided to try it anyway! The unit went together fairly easy, however you need to be gentle when trying to insert the shelves, they have a tight fit especially in the corners where the rivets from the beams meet the corners! The only issue I have with the shelves was the connector used to connect the upper shelf unit to to bottom shelf unit! The plastic inserts are insufficient to stabilize the unit, so I used some small metal strips to secure the units together! This should be something the manufacturer provides! Overall the units worked out well and I would purchase again!

800 lbs/shelf is not 100% accurate

I like the shelf, but the rating of 800 lbs/shelf is likely under lab conditions with most of the weight towards the (supported) edges of the shelf. I had a 221 lb generator stored on the bottom shelf (the only thing on that shelf besides 5-10 lbs of potting soil on the opposite side) and the shelf held for a few months, but I just moved the generator yesterday and the shelf snapped. It’s still a OK shelf, but I’m very disappointed that the rated weight capacity is nothing near what is advertised.

Older models were much better

Armadillo brand that has been substituted for members' mark is nowhere near as good. I trust it once I have it put together, however, its very annoying to assemble these new models with the plastic post connectors. As soon as one beam is connected, another comes loose. Bring back the original model. They are 5 star quality.

J. U. N. K.

Bought 4 of the Member’s Mark 5-shelf storage racks a couple years ago and they are fantastic. I bought these which are same item # and description and what I got was junk. Not even MM brand, but Armadillo. Can’t return these quick enough. They are absolutely useless!

It would have been easier just to make shelves.

I ordered two of these since they had good reviews, and I am beyond disapointed. The corners of both sets came damaged and had to be bent back into place to fit together. Then almost every rivet or rivet hole was bent and would not fit together. I just spent an hour bending everything back into place, and I'm still not finished. I have very little faith that these shelves are going to last.

Disappointed

I was disappointed in the quality of these units and the condition in which they were delivered to my house. Based on reviews on this page, I ordered 2 for use in my basement. When delivered to my home, both boxes showed minor external damage . I took a chance that the damage would be cosmetic and not structural, so I opened them. A couple of shelf corners were chipped and an edge was marred but the pieces were structurally intact so I assembled the units. The rubber feet fit well into the tops but not the bottoms of the corner posts. I had to use a rubber mallet to seat the bottoms. The plastic bulged up and out on one end or the other, or the middle on all the bottom corner posts. Some of the rivets on the cross pieces and rails were not large enough to get a tight fit into the bottom of the slots of the corner pieces. The rivets would simply drop to the bottom of the slot and allow the corner to float around. Another reviewer experienced this and was advised by another reviewer to use a rubber mallet to firmly seat the rivets. Unfortunately, strongly striking these bad pieces with a rubber mallet would cause the rivet to bounce up and out of the slot instead of seating it. I was able to mix and match cross pieces and rails to gain sufficient stability for my intended use, but the assembled units are not rigid enough to handle anything like the 800 lb/shelf maximum rated load per shelf being slid onto theses shelves. They should be sufficient for the less than 200 lb/shelf loads I will be putting on them.
