Porcelean coating on grates fails in 11 months

We have owned this grill for 11 months and have not had any previous issues. We recently noticed the enamel coating on the grates was chipping and peeling to the extent that the grill could not be used without ingesting some of the coating in the grilled food. We contacted customer service for replacement procedures and were told that this is normal and that we should try and scrape the rest of the porcelain coating off the grates and season them with oil to prevent food from sticking. I sent photos of the grates and was told that they would not we covered as they are still usable (albeit with porcelain pieces in the food). The grates have a 5 year warranty, although customer service could not provide a circumstance when the warranty might be applicable. They did offer to sell me replacement grates for 25.00 x 3 grates ($75.00) and told me only recourse was to return the whole grill to the store where I purchased it for a refund. Amazing.

The Member's Mark Pro-Series 4 Burner Gas Grill comes with Porcelain Coated Cast Iron cooking grates. The porcelain coating does not "peel" or "flake". If the Porcelain Coating is damaged it will chip in chunks, much the same way it would look to chip a porcelain plate or saucer. The most common cause of "flaking" from the cast iron cooking grates, is due to the cooking grates not being seasoned, or the seasoning not being consistently maintained. Our agents will always ask for photos so we can document any issues. If photos provided show the cooking grates are able to be fully restored by washing and removing the dried carbon build-up, and then perform seasoning to protect them, then replacements are not needed. You're 100% correct. The Porcelain Coated Cast Iron cook grates are under warranty for 5 years. We would be happy to provide replacements when needed. The agent you spoke with was confident that your issue was resolvable with cleaning steps and seasoning (steps provided via email.) Better than expected!

I purchased this model when it was discounted at the end of last year. It was boxed in the garage until this past week when I assembled it. I found the assembly straight forward and only needed help lifting the fire box onto the cart. For the most part, the instructions were okay but better with the Bilt app and YouTube videos. Suggestions: assemble what you can on a work table.........it will save your back. I read multiple reviews on ignition issues. I contacted customer support before I started assembly and they sent me the washer kit to adjust the positioning of the two middle igniters.......just in case I needed it. I did not. If one follows the provided instructions for lighting in different configurations, at least for me, I had no issues. I have owned nothing but Weber products since 1978. I am 75 YO and decided that when my Weber went to pasture, that I was not going to spend the extra money to replace in kind. I must admit that I have only done the initial burn in. However, I think that the quality is good, assembly not bad, and since I got it for the clearance price of $299........it was a steal. I will advise the group how I think I performs once I slap some protein on it.

Heat loss a major negative on this grill!

The worst grill I have ever bought! The grill does not get hot enought to sear food, you end up drying out most items as the grill does not get hot enough to heat the food grilling surface to sear and lock in food juices. The opening at the side and cover not sealed cause major heat loss. You need to turn all burners on high and leave for 20+ muntes to get over 350. Even then once you open it, normal heat loss occures and you end up starting all over again to get a heated environemnt and it now takes even longer. For a few bucks more I see myself biting the bullet and buying a Weber next time around. And forget using the Oven feature, it's absoutely horrible expericnce!

Impressed with the quality/assembly went better t.

I was concerned about the assembly but between the instruction manual and the app that also walks you step by step, it went better than expected. Took me and my wife about 3-4 hours plus a couple of breaks to complete. After following the instructions for the middle burners, it started right up. Seems very solid. Used it once and it did a good job with the burgers. Looking forward to using the thermostat to do some baby back ribs. Seems high quality. Like the window on the lid.

Once we opened the box to put the grill together the grill had a big dent on the top and the thermometer gauge was cracked. So sadly we can’t review the grill because we returned the grill to Sam’s for a full refund.
