Excellent grill; assembly instructions, not so exc

I rate this grill 5 stars because of its construction and performance. You can spend a lot more on some name brands for a four-burner grill, but you wouldn't get your moneys worth. The grill is rock solid made with suerior materials. It even feels solid - shipping weoght is 179 lbs. It takes reading the instructions to use it properly, but that shouldn't be a negative. Now the assembly inmstructions, they're another story. Drawings without text guidance was a bit of a challenge. Happily, there's a downloadable 3-D assembly manual that clears up the confusion and is a first-rate use of technology. I knew it would be a project to remember when the very first part drome me batty. When I realized it wasn't a part, but rather a tool, things ckeared up. They say 90 minutes to assemble. I doubled that, but you might do better. All-in-all, I'm very pleased with the pirchase.

Outstanding Grill/Oven with Many Features

This grill is my second Member's Mark grill. The first I bought in 2002 was used for 12 years. There are several features of this new grill that are outstanding and make grilling fun. The thermostatic control turns the grill into an oven like my grandmother's gas oven. I can select a temperature for it to maintain that allows baking anything such as pizza! Next is the large window to see inside without opening it. Very helpful for baking and even grilling. Then there is the aluminum housing that will not rust and maintains even cooking temperature. Aluminum is used only on very expensive grills. Internal components are rust resistant stainless steel. If my original Member's Mark had incorporated stainless steel internals I would probably still be using it. The grates are porcelain coated for easy cleaning and long life. The external housing is not SS, but instead is steel coated with a heavy hammered texture finish which should be very durable. And lastly a feature I haven't seen before is a heat shield between the aluminum heat box and the propane tank. This is an important safety step that all propane fueled cookers should have. The most amazing feature is the price! The assembly manual and operating manual both are done very well and they have an online step by step assembly video in 3D. I highly recommend this grill.

Lighting is a learning experience, nice grill

This is a great grill, it took 5 hours to put together and every piece fit well, I took someone else’s advice and used a bench to work on which made it so much easier. Lighting of the middle two burners is definitely be a learning experience, I don’t like that I have to pick up the grates to make sure they are lit; you hear them lite and then they will go out on you if you don’t hold the knob in long enough.

New Grill

The grill is nuce looking. It takes longer than i expected to heat up. It cooks well. The only re problem i had was the gas connection regulator needed to be replace. There was a leak. I contacted Sams Club and they had a new replacement regulator sent to me in less than 7 days.

Thermalcouple is a bad idea

Purchased this grill for my daughter and son-in-law in the Dallas area. Overall the grill is well built and heavy duty. It was delivered on time and packaged well with no damage and with adequate instructions for setup. I purchased the larger size for myself a couple of years ago and have been extremely pleased with it. I gave this newer edition 3 stars due to the thermalcouple that they have added to burners 2 & 3. Burners 1 and 4 start with the familiar electric spark feature. The knobs on burners 2 and 3 are then depressed and turned to the ignite/high position and the instructions say to keep the knobs depressed for 5-6 seconds until the thermalcouple heats up enough to keep the gas flowing after the knob is released. Much like igniting a gas water heater. The problem is that neither burner (2 or 3) would remain lit with only 5 or 6 seconds of depression. It would take anywhere from 30 to 60 seconds and several attempts to keep them lit. In daylight it is difficult to see if the burners keep going. Don’t understand why they would ruin a proven system. I was frustrated to the point that I would not buy it again for myself or recommend it.

To avoid multiple lighting attempts, try holding burners #2 and #3 for 35-45 seconds before releasing. Nice grill except for center burners

Build quality is nice. Looks great. The side burners light instantly. Center two burners are less cooperative. I have to stand at the grill pushing the flame control button for 2 minutes or so and even then sometimes those burners don’t light. (Kinda miss my old grill now!) Haven’t tried the side burner yet. The thermostat control seems like that would be a nice feature but haven’t used that yet aside from just testing it out. The cover is nice quality.

Good grill, but could have some improvements

Solid grill, but could use a few small things. The good: Heavy grill, seems solid. I have only cooked on it a few times, and have not found any hot spots as of yet, so seems pretty even across the board. Assembly was straight forward, but could have been easier. Grill lights well, and the two center burners, controlled by thermocouple, work fine. The bad: Manual is nowhere to be found. Yes, they include a paper manual, but there is not one on the web site. This is completely unacceptable. Every product should have full documentation on line - forever. 20 years from now, you should be able to find the manual on the Sams web site. This detracts from the product itself, as maintenance is an essential part of a product. The assembly could have been easier. They call for a screwdriver, but then the screws are very close to a vertical piece, so you hand and the screwdriver are hitting the side. An allen would have been soooooo much easier. Also, it would have been better if all the screws had loc-tite on them for assembly. The base area has a silly bar. I installed it just following instructions, then went back and looked at what it was for - it is a tank exclusing bar. Absurd. That will be removed. A) if you are silly enough to put an extra tank under your grill, that would be darwin at work, and B) put in a shelf instead - would serve the same task per lawyers, but would actually be useful The glass front is just silly. I had thought those went away 20 years ago, but here it is again.

The addition of the glass window is primarily for use while in Oven Mode so you can view your food cooking without having to open the lid. Dysfunctional Grill

This is the second time I’ve had to return this particular grill made by members mark within a month, first grill had to be returned because middle burners wouldn’t work, same issue with this one. Do not buy this grill! Now I have to ask someone to transport this grill and make another trip to Sam’s to return this grill. Not to mention that it is more difficult to put together than other brands and we’ve had to put two dysfunctional grills together.

Gambled and lost!

I read several poor reviews about ignition problems but also positive reviews. Took a chance and lost. Burner 2 and 3 would not stay lit. I reached out to customer service following their instructions that did not help. They sent more instructions for a known issue to add washers to thermocouple. Still processing but may need to return. Wish me luck loading and returning to store. Don't waste your money, time, and labor.
