Burnt longer and clean. With only little ash remains, it burnt for long and stayed hot for longer cooking. The pieces in the bag are mixed sizes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Good Charcoal lump charcoal is different from what I’ve tried in the past. It’s lump shape instead of briquettes which I actually really like. What I love about this particular charcoal is that it is chemical free and there are no additive’s which is important to me when I’m using it to cook my food. We prefer cooking with charcoal because of the flavor and this gave our food good flavor and the food seemed to cook evenly and the charcoal didn’t burn out fast like some other brands. This is also such a good value! It’s only around $19 for a very large bag of charcoal, you can’t beat the price, I was so surprised when I picked it up because I didn’t expect it to be this big.

It made me think there might be lots of small pieces, which there were, so I wasn't happy about that. I felt there were too many small pieces, so we added a second grate on top, and that helped keep all the lumps where we wanted them instead of having them fall through the grate. If you don't mind using a second grate, then this charcoal is just fine. Adds a mild smokey flavor to your BBQ foods. And our chicken cooked evenly.
