Smell funny

I’m not a hard core barbaque guy. So I’m not a good judge versus charcoal other that you need a chimney to start them without fluid. They seem to do the job.

No lumps included.

Where's the lump charcoal? Second bag I purchased and it's full of small shale bits. I'll have to try a different brand.

Not good enough

This charcoal supposed to be better than the regular ones, but after opening the bag, the charcoal is so small that u need to use a lot (maybe more) than a regular charcoal bag. The bag is very big, but it's not going to last more than 3 bbq dinners 🙄

Hey Gonzalez, We understand your frustration. These bags should absolutely last far more than three cooks. Our charcoal is made from ultra dense Acacia hardwood, which burns hotter and longer than most, so you typically means using less per cook. If you received a bag with unusually small pieces, it may have been damaged/crushed during shipping, and we’d love to help make it right.
Feel free to reach out to us at Hello@TheGoodCharcoal.com and we’ll make it right and answer any questions you might have.
All the best, The Good Charcoal Team

When packaging is better than the product

I tried this last summer, the bag was practically full of crumbs.. thought ok, maybe I just got a bag that had been tossed around. Grabbed a bag this year , it was the same . Not lump more like crumbs. Disappointed in product , packaging is nice.

Lump Charcoal Dust

It's fine if you like cooking with Charcoal powder. To call what was in the bag I bought lump is a joke. Based on other reviews, I'm disappointed that Sams sells this product.

Hi Ron, Thanks for letting us know about your experience. Our lump charcoal is made from dense Acacia bushes, not old growth trees, which naturally produces a mix of piece sizes designed to burn hot and clean without chemicals or fillers. Even with that variety, you should still see steady heat and long burn times, so what you describe sounds unusual.
Please email us at Hello@TheGoodCharcoal.com with details about your bag and we will help make this right.
The Good Charcoal Team

NO LUMPS! Just ground up charcoal dust!

I bought this “charcoal” a couple years ago and a lot of people had reported the same problem, no lumps, a year later a gave it another shot and, again, no lumps. Here we are again for the 3rd and last time, no lumps.

Bad Charcoal.

This is my second bag and just like the first most of the limp is broken down to small pieces and dust. No prows larger than a golf ball. Due to small pieces it does not burn clean as not enough air flow is cut off.

Maybe I should use a sieve.

This isn't lump charcoal, it's more like chip charcoal. What I mean that is 90% of the pieces are so small that it falls through the charcoal chimney before you light it. On clearance I bought a second bag figuring the small pieces were a mistake, nope.

Dear Carnivore,Thank you for sharing your feedback. We regret that the bags you purchased contained smaller pieces than expected, which impacted your grilling experience. Our lump charcoal should provide a variety of sizes, and it seems these bags fell short. Please reach out to us at Hello@TheGoodCharcoal.com so we can make this right for you. - The Good Charcoal Team

Terrible coal don't buy it

This is the worst lump coal I have ever used. The "lump" coal was very small. There didn't appear to be any large chunks of coal. As a result, this coal foes not last long and you need to use more than twice the coal to get the same results that you would get from other brands.

Pieces are TOO SMALL to be called Lump.

I was very excited to be able to purchase Lump charcoal at Sam's due to the great price but, as soon as I opened the bag and started loading my grill, I was sad and disappointed with the product. I knew then, another trip back to the store was on the horizon. I am not a fan of briquettes at all because of all the chemicals and heat limitation so I had to go to a different store to get charcoal. Luckily, there's a Walmart next to Sam's and I was able to shop a GREAT selection of lump charcoal at Walmart for a fair price ($15 for a 15lb bag). Product was returned to Sam's and I do not intend to buy it again.

Dear Bruno,We’re sorry to hear that your recent purchase did not meet your expectations. Our lump charcoal is designed to offer a mix of sizes and is sustainably made from invasive hardwood bushes, not old-growth trees, to help make the charcoal market more sustainable. We value your feedback as it helps us improve. We would be happy to chat with you about our products, including our 3-ingredient briquette and how Acacia is denser than hickory or oak, regardless of piece size.
