Saw this in Sam's and decided to give it a try. As others have mentioned, a lot of the coals are very small. But WOW, they lit very easily and burned very hot for me. These may not work well for some slow burn techniques I've seen people do with lump charcoal. But if you just want to get your grill going quick, with less charcoal. Give these a try.

I was a bit skeptical when I originally caught this heavily discounted at end of season. It has not diasppointed. Amazing amounts of stored energy in this charcoal. Burns hot and very slowly. There are a lot of small fragments so it helps to plan accordingly. Utilize the small pieces on an established bed of coals if on an open grate. Excellent flavor, I will definitely be looking to stockpile it after Labor Day.

This is not lump charcoal as I know it. It is a bag of very small pieces of charcoal that probably broke off other pieces. Like someone swept up a pile of dust and fragments after all the good, larger pieces had been taken. I would strongly warn potential buyers not to purchase this product.

The natural smoky flavor it imparts is just incredible – pure, authentic, and absolutely divine with everything from pork shoulders and juicy chicken thighs to a perfectly cooked ribeye steak. If you want to elevate your BBQ game, this is the stuff to have.

I want to like this, I really do. but so much of the bag is tiny chips of charcoal that fall through my charcoal grate and sit on the bottom. Maybe 1/3 of the bag is reasonable and usable size, 1/3 is just big enough to not fall through every time, and 1/3 is a step away from use in a pellet grill. This was based on the top of the bag, I anticipate it getting worse as I get closer to the bottom where even more small pieces will settle out. I'd like to think I got a dud of a bag, but looks like my experience is fairly common.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The heat distribution was on point. It definitely gave the flavor of the food a nice touch! Burn time is very good! Not too much ash residue. Packaging was pretty good however when I was carrying it I felt as though the bag was going to rip from holding it by the handle.

I highly recommend this lump charcoal. A word of caution when using lump charcoal vs briquettes though. Lump will burn hotter and faster, so you will not need as much as you may be used to with briquettes. Also, the lump will give you a much better overall smokey flavor with out needing to add any additional chips or chunks to your coals. This has become my go to lump.

It stayed lit, no issues. The burgers had a great charcoal grilled taste. This brand,The Good Charcoal, is made from acacia wood. This is 100% chemical free, great quality! This brand also supports the community, Feeding American in Needs. And simply, this bag is easy for anyone to carry to and from the grill to get started, it has a handle. I purchased several bags of the Good Charcoal Lump and have used most of it this summer. I've smoked pork shoulder, brisket, chicken, ribs, and salmon with it and I'm happy with the smoke flavor. My only critique is the size of the lump. There is a lot of small lump in the bottom of the bag and I can only use 80% of each bag as the small stuff falls through my smoker grates.

Well, it burns up ok, a bit too quickly. It technically is "Lump" charcoal, but there were disappointingly a small amount of large pieces. Not trying to be funny here but when most of the "lumps" are smaller than standard charcoal briquettes, it was a disappointing purchase. Not good at all for a long, slow cook in my smoker.
