I usually use my gas grill because well for one reason it’s larger and my wife doesn’t like the taste of charcoal grill food as much. With that being said though, this bag of good charcoal, lump charcoal Works well and perfectly in my small charcoal grill. It burns long and not a steady rate, making my burgers cook evenly at a steady temperature. We added a couple Applewood chips into it as well for extra flavor, but the flavor did not taste like I was eating charcoal, which is a plus.The ash residue was easy to clean.

The lump charcoal comes in a nice big bag with convenient carrying handles. The bag was packed full of big lump pieces. The product was easy to light and burned for a long time with plenty of heat. We had consistent temperature throughout the entire cook. We will definitely buy again.

Was impressed with how easy it was to light without even using charcoal fluid and it lasted longer burning. The heat distribution was spread evenly throughout and didn’t have any ash residue. This charcoal also helps a problem in Africa called “bush encroachment,” which is an overgrowth of acacia trees, which threaten grasslands. So by buying this, everyone is actually helping the environment in Africa and helping their families consume less chemicals! Win win!

It also doesn’t have that chemical taste that some briquettes leave behind. It burns cleanly and lasts a good amount of time. It’s perfect for grilling and gives great results every time. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Today we fired up the grill using Lump Charcoal by The Good Charcoal Company. It was amazing and burned very hot! The first thing that I noticed about this charcoal was the bag - it is strong and sturdy, not made out of paper like the competition, and comes with a plastic carrying handle. This is a huge win since the bag is 27.5 lbs (12.47 kg)! To open the bag, pull the small white strip in front first to find the thread to fully access the bag. It is recommended to use a charcoal chimney with this lump charcoal, and we did and found that it was ready to go in 15 minutes. The lump charcoal was easy to ignite and took right off; plus, it stayed lit and left no residual smoke once it was ready. It cooked all of our food evenly with excellent results, as you can see from my pictures. This lump charcoal is made with Acacia hardwood, making it fully chemical free, and all natural. The Good Charcoal company also sponsors weekly BBQs for those facing food insecurity, which truly makes them a good company. The only drawback we found in this lump charcoal is that the pieces are small, and some of it fell right through the charcoal chimney. I do enjoy using this lump coal. It works great for my needs,but can sometimes have a lot of smaller chunks that fall through my grates. It is especially great for ceramic grills or open fire cooking. Plus, the company has great community support which earns it that final star!

Absolutely the worst charcoal I have ever tried. Nothing but tiny crushed up less than marble sized pieces. And full of rocks. I've been cooking with lump for 30 years and try every brand I can find. Not much difference between most of them and all of them can give you a bag that isn't perfect. Some brands too many big pieces, some times too many little pieces. Most have a pound of waste. This product is nothing but waste. 25 pounds of my bag ended up in the county dump.

This charcoal is basically garbage. It came all smashed up in tiny bits so small it's almost impossible to get in my starter chimney. It lights slow because the little pieces don't allow for good air flow and when you put it in your grill it drops straight to the bottom. It also had little bits of plastic from the bag mixed into it which I had to pick out. Now I'm trying to figure out what to do with like 25 pounds of the worst charcoal I've ever used.
