This charcoal is awesome to use for low and slow cooking and hot and fast cooking. I use it in my grill and smoker to create some tasty food! I standby this brand to say that it's worth every penny. Give it a try and y'all be glad you did. No chemical taste on your food and real hardwood lump.

We didn’t have to use a whole package to grill some burgers. The heat distribution is decent as well. I didn’t think the flavor was too strong since charcoal can be overpowering sometimes.

My husband couldn’t get over how nicely it burned and stayed lit, and how it didn’t overwhelm our food with a “burnt flavor”. Overall 10/10 for flavor, burn, and clean up!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Lump Charcoal from Sam’s Club (27.5 lbs) goes a long way. The bag is massive. It will take me forever to finish it in my smaller charcoal grill. It says it is 100% chemical free on the bag. It gives the food that typical charcoal flavor but is not quite as strong as some other major brands. My wife prefers this brand! Each piece is not the same shape like other brands. I wonder if this is how it can burn hotter, not sure. It does take quite a while for it to be perfect to cook on. About the same amount of time other major brands takes. But I do believe it burns hotter. I did not test temperature output though. 2 and a half hours after lighting it, it is still glowing red! It holds its heat great!

It does burn a little hot and fast. The flavor is what I really like, different from regular charcoal, unique and not too powerful, a nice touch to add to your barbeque. I would recommend trying it.

It does seem to cook hotter and no weird chemical taste. I like it’s a cleaner charcoal. Only downside is that it does take a little longer to get it started, but other than that it’s great!

I love how the charcoal gives the meat a nice grilled flavor, the intensity of the burn takes some getting use to, I’m so used to chemically treated charcoal. Overall I would definitely recommend, especially if clean eating/cooking is a priority.

Very disappointed. This is NOT lump charcoal. These are small pieces. So small some of them fell through my grates, I will say the stuff that did stay on the grates burned hot, and had good smell and food have nice flavor. But for the price, I was expecting LUMP......

We recently began using The Good Charcoal in our Big Green Egg Minimax. The charcoal was easy to light using a natural starter block and burned with an even steady heat. We grilled vegetable kabobs and chicken and the charcoal was still burning! The next time I grilled I added the natural starter block and a small amount of fresh The Good Charcoal and relit the remaining charcoal from the first use without any issues! Overall I am very pleased with the high quality as well as the flavor imparted. It is great to use a charcoal that is made without chemicals!
