Better than all these people say..
It only took me about an hour or so to put together. I only needed a second person for like two minutes. I have no idea how all these people took so long to put this together.. No problem with gas, everything has worked fine. I usually only use 3 burners and it's always over 450 degrees on high. If you need to cook a steak at 700 degrees you have a problem. I get nice medium to medium rare steak with grill marks no problem. I don't know why you need to "char" it. I just cooked prime rib burgers tonight perfectly and they had those nice criss cross grate marks. The aluminum box wipes off very easily to keep clean. They only complaint so far it actually feels light to me. I might put some weights in the bottom. We'll see how it holds up in the long run.
Thank you for taking time to leave a review. We're happy to hear that the assembly went smoothly. Your feedback regarding the overall weight of the grill has been passed along. Please note there are 2 locking casters at the back of your grill, that you might find helpful to keep your grill in place. Hope this helps!
Solid Construction
Purchased this grill a little over a month ago and have used it frequently and highly recommend for the price point. The grill heats up quickly and evenly with no issues. The grill cover is much heavier duty than I was expecting which is a nice bonus. Reading other reviews, assembly seems to be the biggest drawback- agreed. The instructions and app were spot on when assembling. It took me roughly 3 hours to put together by myself. The only advice I have if you are flying solo with assembly is take the lid off when lifting the top section onto the frame. It was able to line up all the holes no problem after that. I wish I had photos to upload of me trying to fit the entire top section of the grill onto the frame before I took the lid off that would be entertaining...
Thank you for leaving a review and feedback of your assembly experience. We are glad that you didn't throw your back out trying to lift it on your own! Please be careful when lifting heavy pieces. 2 people are recommended.
Amazing Grill
Bought this after doing much research and price comparing. We had a Weber Genesis for a few years until it rusted to nothing. Checked this out in the Club and was impressed at how heavy it felt. Putting it together took me maybe two hours. Everything went together as it should, there are simply a lot of parts. Not that difficult. Fired it up and it gets hot quickly. Easily peeled the sticker off the lid once hot. Let it burn on high for 15 minutes as recommended. Seasoned the grates as recommended. Cooked steaks and wings in it and it functioned perfectly. Even heat and no flares. Every bit as impressive as the Weber at leas than half the price. Now we’ll see how durable it is over time.
Thank you so much for taking time to give us your detailed feedback! We are so happy to hear that you didn't have any issues removing the sticker. We hope you get many years out of your new grill.
Not a “Pro Series” experience
Great grill-Bad engineering. It could have been so much easier to put together with common sense changes. BILT app is almost as bad as instruction manual. Whoever designed the grill and wrote the instructions obviously never used them or they would have fixed it. 10 hours, a phone call and several words that aren’t normally said, but I finished it! To me, if it is Sams Club’s top model, they should make the construction equal to how nice the grill is. Grill great. Putting it together will make you change religions.
Thank you for taking time to leave a review. We're sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience with the assembly of your new grill. Please feel free to reply with specific steps of the assembly you found difficult. We are always looking to improve customer experience. Any feedback you'd like to provide that you found particularly confusing, would help us fix customer assembly experience in the future.
Fantastic Grill
I was very excited to see this at Sam’s Club. Fantastic value with comparable grills from Weber selling for double the price. This is a high quality grill which is a lot heavier than my old Weber. The first weekend of grilling turned out great and very pleased with the purchase.
We are so glad that you're happy with your purchase and you had fun grilling with it.
Great quality, good price.
This grill is very well built, with sturdy and well finished components. Well “built” is somewhat a misnomer since the buyer essentially builds 90% of the product. That being said, it is a pretty straightforward assembly and it is solid when finished. There are a few steps that are frustrating, mostly due to limited access or unclear instructions but overall, it’s not too bad. I spent about 3 hours assembling it with no help. Have only used it once but liked the performance. The included cover is extremely good quality and should last for several years. The other reviews that complained about it not getting hot enough must have a bad regulator or a kinked gas line. Mine got to 600 degrees(F) in about 15 minutes. Sam’s seems to have knocked it out of the park on this one for the price, features and quality.
Thank you for taking time to leave a review. We're sorry to hear that the assembly instructions weren't 100% clear. There is an interactive 3D app called BILT that is free to download for both iPhone and Android users. Many customer find it helpful during assembly. We're so happy to hear that you're pleased with the cover and the overall performance of the Member's Mark Pro-Series 4 Burner Gas Grill. Happy grilling!
I honestly think the manufacturer may have taken the negative feedback into consideration and re-worked this product. I just got one of these in early June after they had been out all over the country. I had called last month and was told they would be back in stock in mid-June. In short, I did not have any of the problems others on here complained about. There were no missing screw holes, hardware or misalignments. The unit was not at all damaged in the box and all pieces were present. The other big issue I had read about was people’s displeasure with a large sticker on the top that was difficult to remove. There was no sticker on top of mine and the two smaller stickers on the side tables came off extremely easily. This is why I suspect I got one that just came off the line and that they fixed previous issues. Very pleased with the grill so far. Not difficult to put together and it feels solid/professional. Only issue I had after putting it together is the starter didn’t work but I assume that’s more likely due to me hooking it up incorrectly, I just haven’t had time to mess with it. Good value.
Thank you for leaving a review and your feedback! We did make some changes to the unit based on the feedback and we are so happy that the changes have corrected the previous issues! There are troubleshooting tips for possible ignition issues in the manual. Great Grill-Easy to Set Up--Great Price.
I bought using my Sam's club app--and had it delivered since it was large and heavy. Took a little over 10 days--but delivery was easily tracked--and driver fantastic. No damage whatsoever--Driver inspected box with me. Very well packed--I laid out all the parts on parts one side of the box now flattened. Opened the small package with all the screws--but left them inside. Took about 3 hrs. to set up--mostly because I viewed the videos online each step. However, the instructions were well written and easy to follow. Just need a Phillips head screwdriver--don't worry about the smaller parts--they fit perfectly. I did use a knee cushioned pad which helped. I was able to move all the parts by myself including the heavy fire box. After 25-minute burn off with all the burners on high--I cooked a Tomahawk Steak (also from Sam's) for 9 minutes a side--Perfect Medium Rare. And it was delicious--as good as it gets. Electric start worked like a charm with immediate light. My Sam's club Plus card provided free delivery--and I used my 1% cash back to reduce the cost of the grill. Grill is very well built--all the parts fit together without any fuss. Looks fantastic--and most importantly--grills well.
Thank you for taking time to leave such a detailed review. We're happy to hear that the delivery and assembly went smoothly. Thank you for choosing Member's Mark, happy grilling!
Assembly afterthoughts
Leave the box in your pickup and use a razor knife to fold the four sides of the cardboard box down to reveal the grill firebox. It is heavy and you will need to roll it onto its back and then set it onto the base soon. Be careful not to damage the enamel coating of these large parts during unpackaging. You will need to find the four caster wheels to begin assembly. You will start with the larger bolts to assemble the base cabinet and the side shelves. If you carefully align the sides of the cabinet base it will improve the final fit. Use a screwdriver. Go ahead and attach the ground lead under one of the screws while attaching the igniter module to the side. Be careful to not overtighten the wire rack that holds the drip pan. Overtightening will peak and chip the enamel coating. Save a couple wire ties to manage your grill wires later. Add 1 inch washers to the top two bolts on both of the side shelves to prevent bending damage if a shelf is ever overloaded. This is a weakness. Take care not to overtighten the plastic bezel for the side burner or the 6 plastic knobs. Take your time aligning and threading the 2 small bolts into the side burner controller. Get it bent straight into place so you can see your holes before you begin trying to thread these small bolts. Attach the wires to the back of the igniter switch before you push the switch all the way in. It will be a tight fit against the gas line and you may need to use both your thumbs to bend the line away from the back of the switch to allow it room. Do not bend the front face of the shelf. The cabinet doors are nice and they are held closed by magnets, but I had to place 2 small washers under the hinge of one of my doors to align them. Use the matchstick holder to push the top hinge pin out of the hole if you need to remove a door. You have chosen wisely. Enjoy!
Thank you for leaving a review and such a detailed description of recommendations! Happy grilling!
Screwy Situation
The entire grill was about inserting screws except when it came to the ignition portion. The instructions called for taking two screws out and then to re-add them once the igniter portion was attached. Problem was - the screws were tightened so tight you couldn't screw them out and on top of it the screws were stripped. 85% of the grill put together and you weren't taking it back to the store. Calling the number on the instructions was of no help, they were closed . Had to go to Home Depot buy a Dremel and grinding wheels to cut the screws off from behind. Needless to say I wasn't very happy about having to do this, but there was NO other choice. Why in the world they would put the screws in so tight and strip them to me was just absurd. An extra two hours of work that shouldn't have had to be put into assembling this grill.
