Complete rip-off whether you buy ink outright or pay a subscription. You can buy crazy expensive cartridges that only actually give you 1/5 of the promised yield or you can sign up for a subscription plan. Regardless, it works out to be cheaper to print EVERY PAGE as a photo at Walmart than to print from your own printer. Buy a different brand printer and avoid the money pit.

Do not buy. The instant ink makes it so hard to operate. It locked our printer even though we followed all directions and then couldn't connect to it so we couldn't print. So dumb.
