HP Printer

A real good price for a disposable printer. Use for a year with ink included for a year and replace if needed.

HP making it hard to use

Prints find, just being required to join InstaInk - even if free - to use the printing ability is beyond frustrating. This will be our last HP printer after 30+ years.

Plan to have this printer remotely disabled by HP

HP requires you to sign up for their "iinstant ink" program with this printer. This subscribes you to them monitoring your printer and sending you ink when they presume you need it. The biggest problem with this is that... if you don't keep an up to date payment method in the program, they remotely DISABLE the printer.... even when it has plenty of ink. The most absurd thing I have experienced ever.

"e' stands for ecchhh (this is junk)

ANY HP printer ending with an 'e' is just a box of troubles. The owner's are held hostage re: ink and how HP is monitoring your paper usage and supposed ink consumption. There are ways to get around the ink problem but why does the user have to do THAT? Set up is a pain and when the printer works it works well, that said, if it somehow stops working or goes off-line fa-get-aboud-it. I have owned nothing but HP printers for home use and worn out several, but this 'e' model is being sold.

Complete rip-off whether you buy ink outright or pay a subscription. You can buy crazy expensive cartridges that only actually give you 1/5 of the promised yield or you can sign up for a subscription plan. Regardless, it works out to be cheaper to print EVERY PAGE as a photo at Walmart than to print from your own printer. Buy a different brand printer and avoid the money pit.

Parting is such sweet sorrow HP!

HP you lost a decades long customer! I have only purchased HP printers for decades but today I bought an Epson! While I was at Sam's returning my latest HP printer, saw a guy buying an Epson. He also was once a faithful HP customer but we BOTH refuse to be held hostage with HP ink . . . You MUST USE HP ink. Anything else and the printer won't work! Their ink is ridiculously high! So as of today, I am no longer an HP printer customer! FYI, my daughter and I both quit buying HP computers years ago because they did not stand behind their product when we both had each purchased HP computers and both of them malfunctioned about the same time! What a shame HP! I am excited to use my Epson printer. The ink refills are huge and as the guy said today, that will last you a life time . . . AND their refills are much, much cheaper . . . . good bye HP . . . forever . . . unless you quit bilking customers on ink . . . .

Instant Ink Hijack

My complaint concerns HP printers and their setup process, which appears to pressure customers into enrolling in their Instant Ink subscription service. I previously owned an HP printer and accepted a promotional Instant Ink offer. After the promotion ended, I realized the subscription service did not meet my needs. When I attempted to cancel, I was unable to do so easily and it appeared the service was somehow tied to the device on the backend. More recently, I purchased a new printer, the HP OfficeJet Pro 8128e. During the required setup process through HP's app, I was prompted to register the printer. The process proceeded normally until I reached a page offering up to 12 free months of Instant Ink. However, there was no option to decline or bypass the offer. I attempted the setup using both the mobile app and a laptop, but encountered the same issue and could not proceed without accepting the offer. I contacted HP customer support and spent approximately 41 minutes on the phone with a representative and later a supervisor, but they were unable to resolve the issue. Because of this, I will be returning the printer. Customers should not be forced to accept a subscription offer in order to complete setup of a product they already purchased. If I could rate them a 0 I would.
