Returned

Wanted to give these shelves a chance after reading all the negative reviews so I bought one but I should have listened. These shelves would be good for light/medium weight items (toilet paper, etc). Cheap material, you get what you pay for. I returned this set and spent an extra $30 for a 6 Tier commercial grade metal shelving which is also from Sam’s.

Great shelves!!!

I have owned these shelves for about 7 years now…I use them in my workshop where I store and work on my cars, so they have multiple sets of wheels/tires on them, seats, exhaust systems, bumpers, etc on them and they have been great….they are customizable, so you can make one tall 6 shelf unit, or split it into 2 short 3 shelf units…the shelves are extremely sturdy and a plastic composite that resists oil, chemicals, and are easy to clean…a little Barkeepers Friend and a scotchbite pad removes rust and has them looking new again…they are also extremely good in humid/damp conditions….a rubber mallet is recommended to tap the braces into place…once assembled, they are very stable…I had to move shops and was able to move them fully assembled, loading them on and off a truck without coming apart…these are over half the price of the shelves at Lowes…buy with confidence

Great Shelves and have lasted for years

We bought these shelves years ago and the first try putting them together was a bit hard. You need two people. But we have purchased more and they get easier to put together. Our shop looks awesome and they hold heavy items. We have had them 5 or 6 years and look like new. We are about to get these for our daughter and son-in-law's shop.

Total Crap

Not the same as older models. Cheap and flimsy. They should lock into place and these do not. All the shelves came damaged on the corners, thinner than before. Metal is not the same sturdy ones as before. I have 4 of the older units, have moved them many times assembled and reassembled. Don’t even try moving these newer ones the whole thing will collapse. Read all the most recent reviews and look elsewhere, why did Sam’s Club screw this product up. Run away from this!!!!!!!

DO NOT BUY

I have bought over 50 of these shelves in the past . At that time Sam's was selling the Seville Classic brand. Just purchased 12 of the Members Mark Brand.. They are very flimsy and cheaply made. The metal is very thin. Legs easily Bend. Of course I already had my guys assemble them so I am stuck with them. Next time I'll order the Seville's online from Seville. More expensive but you get what you ;ay for.

Worst shelf in the history of shelving

Whoever designed this shelf must have been under the influence. Conceptually this would be great for a garage, but in reality, it is the most poorly thought out organizational tool in existence. After hours of attempting to assemble this item following every instruction provided word for word, the pieces still would not stay together. Every time I would fix a piece that became detached due to attaching another piece that had come loose for the same reason, I have deemed this shelf inoperable. I love Sam’s Club and have had great experience with many Member’s Mark products, but this makes me lose trust in not only the brand, but Sam’s Club in general.

Flimsy steel. Not press fit between rivet & slot.

I’ve bought and assembled at least a dozen similar shelving units by myself in 60 minutes, but with this rack I needed an assistant to hold posts and beams while I worked to attach beams to the posts. It took 90 minutes with two of us working on it most of that time. The long posts are not the same as in the photos in the Sam’s Club ad or the drawings on the first page of the enclosed Assembly Instructions because the bottom two slots are missing on the long posts so the bottom shelf is over 5 inches above the floor. The post slots are not a press fit with the rivets so the rivets easily slide into the tapered ends of the slots without needing a mallet and during assembly rivets often slide back out of the tapered slot ends and require reattaching beams to posts. The steel material is very thin gauge. Each short post placed on top of a long post has a bottom flare out over the long post that makes it easy for the top posts to shift position on the bottom posts during assembly. This is a cheap imitation of the original Gorilla Rack.

Not Heavy Duty at All!

I bought this a few weeks ago and sure wish I did not. Hopefully I can save you a real waste of money and more importantly time. The manufacturing is so poor and cheap that the shelf supports mostly do not "snap" in as stated in the instructions, most simply sit in place and pop right back out when the unit bends as it does often given the very cheap, thin metal used. After some frustration, I got this all put together as specified. There is no way it will hold 600 lbs per shelf and 3600 lbs on the unit as advertised on the box. Once I started using it, loading one shelf with a few hundred pounds, the shelf material broke, the shelf is actually made of some cheap osb or worse covered with a thin plastic laminate. I had thought these shelves were a solid plastic. Now that I have this setup, its not worth the time and trouble to disassemble and make the several hour round trip back to Sams club to return. I certainly would not waste the time building this junk again. I will use it for a few lighter items. Probably a few hundred pounds on the whole unit will be ok. Good luck!

Great for paper products maybe.

I really give these shelves a zero. They would not stay locked in. Very cheap material also. I used self tapping screws to get them to stay together. I definitely wouldn’t put near the weight they say that you can. PLEASE Do your self a favor and LISTEN to all the POOR reviews. Wish I did.
