Was looking for a great father's day gift -- this was it! Needed a shallower 18" depth on the shelves as my dad-in-law does not have a very deep garage. Other units are 24" and these would have been too large -- not enough room to manuvuer around parked cars with the garage doors closed. The sweet spot for fabricating is to have 2 people holding the corners while a third install the side and crossmembers. I agree on the previous reviewer's comment regarding the difficulty fitting the upper and lower corner frames together, but this is so much easier if you have someone to help you. Great product! I have purchased shelves similar to this from Sam's in the past. While the price is approximately the same as several years ago, the quality is not as sturdy as it was 5-7 years ago. The metal is thinner than in the past and the indent for the connection between the upper and lower vertical posts would be easier to slip and fall as opposed to the old end-to-end assembly. However, for relatively light-weight garage storage, it work fine. I tend to keep the heavier items on the lower shelves due to the concern the upper shelves may not support the weight due to the upper and lower vertical connection mentioned above.

You started out selling a name brand on this size and type. Then you switched to your own make. The design and construction size has changed slightly but workable with prior versions. Now, it's gotten cheaper, more flimsy and when you pick up the pieces, they feel more like plastic than even a cheap, thin metal. The only beneficiary is Sam's with lower cost and same selling price. I bought eight shelves. I'm returning all eight and it's off to another source for a better option.

Listen, do yourself a favor. Throw away the instructions. Go to YouTube and search for this account "SOLID GROUND STAGING". Look for the Member Mark 6 shelf storage.......It helps if you have a second pair of hands. But I did it by myself. Not sure the weight listed can be used on theses shelves. So, don't do it. I used it for extra pantry things. There is a heavy duty one, a bit more expensive. After watching the video, you can assemble this in less than 20 mins.

I have bought several of these shelves over the years and they are a good value when a sale comes around. However the quality has dropped noticeably. First off it is not possible to assemble the shelves as the instructions state. The rails are too flimsy and do not hold their shape, and the supports fall off with the slightest bit of pressure during assembly. This is a two-person job. Aside from that, the tolerances are all over the places. Some of the shelves I had to hammer the supports in, and other had 0 resistance at all and would bounce out. Also, one of the supports had a rivet that fell off when I picked it up. Very not impressed.

Pros solid plastic shelving vs composite wood- Cons Connection of the top and bottom not very easy to connect top to bottom vertical members. One laps over the other and the shelf bracket holds the two together other shelving units have connection bracket allowing you to put the middle shelf other than in the center of the shelf.

This has to be the worst way to connect a lower and upper section. There’s no sleeves or connectors it’s held together only by friction of the shelf. If it wasn’t for self tapping screws to hold the top and bottom together, it would’ve gone back in the box and I would have returned it. I did give it two stars only because once I screwed it together, it worked like a shelf. It should be made the same way the 24 inch one is but it’s not and I was duped that way.

The negative reviews of this shelf had me very concerned., but I purchased it anyway because I needed a 4' wide smooth shelf and figured i could weld it (as recommended by another review) and attach it to the wall if needed. This shelf is great, however. I built it by myself and made two separate 3 shelf units. I believe people are missing the instruction that the pieces be assembled with a rubber mallet, this locks sections into place. If you are putting both sections together, a shelf must span the two sections. This shelf is a huge improvement from the old single bolt steel units that I am used to using. Best value available on a smooth shelf.
