The negative reviews of this shelf had me very concerned., but I purchased it anyway because I needed a 4' wide smooth shelf and figured i could weld it (as recommended by another review) and attach it to the wall if needed. This shelf is great, however. I built it by myself and made two separate 3 shelf units. I believe people are missing the instruction that the pieces be assembled with a rubber mallet, this locks sections into place. If you are putting both sections together, a shelf must span the two sections. This shelf is a huge improvement from the old single bolt steel units that I am used to using. Best value available on a smooth shelf.

This is an excellent shelf with tons of storage space. You can configure it to suit your needs. We have several different styles of shelving from Sam’s Club. We don’t have a food pantry so this does the job! This is hands down my favorite. I would love to purchase more for my office. Bring them back! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 the best.

Easy to assemble, can be used as one tall rack or two individual racks, with one being shorter. Shelf is laminate, so it’s easy to wipe down. Put together in less than 10 minutes. No tools needed, although I did use a rubber mallet to make sure it was snug. Very light tapping did the trick.

This is the worst product I've bought from Sam's. First of all, there is absolutely no way one person can assemble this alone. One of the things that attracted me to this shelf is that it was boltless and "easy to assemble". The connections do not stay in. Once you get one part of it together, those metal pieces fall out while you're trying to assemble the other part. It is extremely frustrating. The directions state to build the bottom half first, build the top part separately, and then place the top part on top of the bottom half. There is absolutely no way you can do this alone. None of the connections stay together so there is no way you can lift the top half to place it on the bottom half. I tried to build the top half on the bottom half and that didn't work since the metal pieces are so flimsy and continued to fall apart. I used a hammer out of desperation to get the metal connections to stay in with no luck. Also, the directions are poorly written. At the very end of the directions once the shelf is assembled, it tells you to place the rubber feet on the bottom of the shelf. Why would you not start with this instead of having to lift the shelf assembled to put the rubber on the bottom? This entire purchase and experience has been very frustrating and disappointing. What a waste of an evening. I'm returning this product tomorrow. Don't waste your time or your money.

Have purchased many from Sam's club. This is by far the most disappointing shelve purchase. Wobbly, flimsy and you won't need a rubber mallet to put together. Do need two people to assemble. Not worth the money, charging the regular price on something cheaper and less quality. Spend your money on the non Sam's brands and you will be better off. I should have read the reviews before buying. Purchased spur of the moment.

I bought two and tried to put the first together and found that connecting the top section to the lower section impossible with the design. I am a fairly handy person, but could not get the two sections to connect. I will probably have to use the shelving as two separate pieces because the top will not correctly mount to the lower section. I am taking the second one back for a refund.

We bought this shelving unit to use in our garage to store our camping equipment. It took 3 of us to put together because no 1 person has enough arms to hold the shelf support beams while assembling other pieces. We looked like a tangled octopus trying to hold it together. Then, one of the rivets broke off. We put that beam on the top because we aren't planning to put anything heavy on top anyway. Didn't want to fool with packing it up or we would have taken it back to Sams. I have emailed the company but no response. Don't make the same mistake we did and buy this unit. I wondered why they didn't have any on display...probably afraid someone would pull on it and the whole unit would fall apart. Hopefully the weight on the shelves will keep the rivets seated but if someone grabs a shelf to move it, the unit will fall apart. You are supposed to bump the rivets in with a hammer. We tapped with a rubber mallet till they were seated but they still can come apart easily.

It lives up to the description: deep shelves, heavy duty. My only complaint is the assembly. The unit is split into two sections, upper and lower shelves so you can have it as one tall shelving unit, or two connected shelves side by side. Unfortunately, it is impossible for one person to assemble it into the one shelving unit. This is because you have to assemble the whole upper unit frame THEN put it on top of the lower shelves which stand 4 feet above the ground. Even if I was that coordinated or had help, the connectors were pretty loose on the upper unit (they don't click in securely and stay there), which means it looked like an Abbot & Costello routine to tring to move the frame around...one side popped out, then when it was in place the other side popped out...you get the picture. Maybe with a helper (or two) and if I temporarily taped all the connections together so they wouldn't keep popping out, we could lift it up and connect the upper and lower shelves. Instead, I am keeping it as separate shelving units for now even though that configuration is not best for my space. If I were designing the thing, I would simply add long joint supports so you could assemble the upper unit one pole at a time and it would stay put while you put the other peices together. As of now, the only thing that keeps the upper and lower units connected is that they share a shelf. Even weighted down, this is not very secure for earthquake zones. I would have had to bracket the upper unit to the wall for safety. Long story short, great unit fo the money if you want to use it in side by side configuration. Requires handyman expertise to assemble it as one unit. Hope all this helps.

First one took about a hour as until you get all 4 sides locked at the bottom it falls apart Second one took about 15-20 minutes.. used plier handles above the rivets to keep the vertical rods from collapsing till I could get all 4 sides locked on the bottom

I wish that I hadn't thrown away the original packaging because it would have been returned. I have purchased and set up a many shelves in my life, but THIS PARTICULAR ONE..., was the worst one that I have purchased. The two separate height rail sizes to put together and be steady is a major design flaw. The material for the support is a weak and flimsy aluminum frame piece and the boards are thin painted particle boards. I built and overhauled ships for a living and THIS was the biggest physical headache that I have ever had to mess with. It took 3 people to put the shelves together because after one piece or section was finally sturdy enough to go to the next section, as soon as you take your hand away from one piece, the other side would slip out of place. When I do move, I will be setting the entire pile of mess to the side of the road for trash pickup and purchase the solid wood solid steel frames. I had to use large bolt-type screws in slots along with tape to hopefully secure the corner sections, especially the area where the two corners pieces have to be used to get the advertised height. A total design flaw mess; isn't even worth the cost of the mess. You have been warned ⚠️.
