Not built for Florida

This was a functional playset for 2 years, then despite taking good care of it, the metal parts under the clubhouse quickly began to rust. So badly that we had to scrape the entire structure. The company told us they would replace the broken parts, but clearly they wouldn't have lasted longer than 2 years in our Florida humidity and rain. The warranty says that "rust is not covered". Buyer beware.

Rust is the result of the oxidation of iron. The most common cause is prolonged exposure to water. Any metal that contains iron, including steel, will bond with the oxygen atoms found in water to form a layer of iron oxide, or rust. Rust will increase and speed up the corrosion process, so upkeep is important.

Great features and built very well

I bought and self assembled this set a couple of months ago. It is built very well with quality components; sturdier than I expected. The assembly took me a weekend and it was a little challenging at times and I am not a novice. I have numerous power tools that made the job easier and quicker, but I also did it alone. Ideally its a 2 person job for one entire day. It is a great playset that should last for at least 15+ years. My three kids ages 2, 9 and 12 love it and have thoroughly put it to the test. We had a dozen kids of various ages all over it 2 weeks ago for a birthday party and it held up well - not a scratch. The playset is sturdy enough to hold me and my wife too. I highly recommend this playset; its an especially great value at under $1,000 (I'd even pay $1,500 for it).

My Grandkids Love This!!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the Adventure Tower Play set six months ago. My grandkids love it. I put it by our pool so they can slide down the slide into the pool. They have a ball with it. We live in Arizona so I installed a mister system on it. It keeps it cool so they can play in the heat of the day. When they are done playing the tower holds their pool toys. I'm so happy I bought this. I would highly recommend this play set. Instructions for assembly were easy to follow. I am a Grandmother...my son and I put it together.

LIFETIME needs a paint consultant and a testing lab. I can help.

The set was delivered to my home in Tampa, FL area on April 2, 2021. The photos above were taken on April 12th, 2021. Functionally, it is a great set. My daughter loves it and it pains me to know that it will not last. Rust is starting to present itself following ten (10) Days of exposure to the elements. The set was constructed approximately 8 miles from Tampa Bay so the set did not see any high salinity. The parts affected are DXI (x2) and DZV (x2). These pieces bolt through the tower floor and support the railing on the tower. When the parts were installed, the tabs on the bottom bent slightly. They are made of thing-gauge steel which can be difficult to coat due to the sharp edges. The coating used has very little flexibility casing it to crack as can be seen in the photos. There are also areas where the welds have pinholes which expose the substrate underneath. Many of the parts are made with weep holes. Possibly for draining during the coating process or to allow for draining during install. The concern is that these areas are uncounted and the set may rust from the inside out. Consumers: please be advised of the above issues. Unless this product is to be used indoors or in low-moisture environments you may have issues regarding longevity. Lifetime: Some of the problems can be engineered out. Other problems could be resolved with your choice of coatings manufacturer. I would be happy to provide you with a formal proposal to perform any performance testing from an accredited third party testing lab to assist with improving your products and helping them live up to the brand name "LIFETIME." In the meantime, please send re-designed parts for replacement: So far the list is as follows: DXF x1, DXO x2, and DXI x2. Perhaps have the fab shop weld a slightly more thick base

Hours of Fun

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this playset last year and it has provided hours of fun for our boys ages 6 and 4! The playset itself is very sturdy and my husband said it wasn't hard to put together! We also love the no maintenance part of this playset! I would definitely recommend this!

Unique Design

I have had the system in my backyard for about a month and it is a big hit my kids and the kids in the neighborhood. It looks different from any other system out there. I really like the metal and plastic that won't cause splinters and won't rot like wood systems will. Also it is low upkeep (no staining or sanding or anything like that). One small complaint on the two climbing walls is the transition between the wall and the deck. It is a bit of a reach for my 3 year old to grab onto something to get up to the deck. My 5 year old can do it just fine. The kids really like the "fort" underneith and matchbox car city molded into the deck.

Rust

We purchased this play set when we bought our house. After reading the product description of Lifetime products lasting 10 years, I thought this would be a perfect addition to our backyard play space until our kids outgrew it. We followed the assembly instructions and even added a rust preventative just to ensure it would last and be safe for the kids. It has rusted so much that it has become a safety hazard and we are going to disassemble it and bring it to the dump. It is a shame, because our kids were so excited about it.

The steel used to build our playsets are made with a weather resistant powder-coated finish that protects from cracking, warping, rot or splinters. It is made to be rust-resistant. However, we recommend using a rust treatment for extra protection a couple times a year, especially if you live in a high humidity climate. We do have replacement parts and touch up paint available through our customer service department. They can be reached at 800-225-3865 or by email at customercare@lifetime.com.

Don't waste your money

We purchased this playset Nov 2017 and had it in storage until our home which was under construction was completed in June 2018. The playset was assembled at our new home in June 2018. Initially we were very happy and the kids loved it. However, it has been up for 16 months now and will have to be junked. Poles have rusted completely through. I contacted "lifetime" and I was informed "lifetime" does not warranty rust.

Grandkids are in heaven!

We bought this set for our grandkids. Nana and Papa put it together (need epsom salts, pain reliever and icy hot)…FYI…get some younger folks to help. Here are a few tips we found that might make your life easier…#1 Make sure you get the tower support together correctly….read the instructions …watch the video and then do it again. If you have that tower support (looks like a large stop sign) put together correctly….everything should go together well (somehow we got ours wrong and we did have dimples facing down as per instruction..but we figured it out) Just make sure you look it all over good, even go so far as to have another set of eyes look it over and insure that it is all correct before proceeding. #2 make sure you orient yourself with the pics in the manual and how you currently have the swing set up….makes a huge difference. ours went up opposite manual. #3 Make sure you have 3-4 people to help with the tower roof, particularly if you try to put this up with any kind of wind. #4 Can't stress this enough….verify the hardware needed / locate it / verify again. Most of the instructions were pretty good…all hardware were clearly marked….the videos were very helpful. After all was said and done….seeing the smiles on the kids faces made it all worthwhile….would I buy again? YEP in a heartbeat. Ask us later if we would put it up again ourselves :) We are still recovering

Great Playset

I bought this to replace a wooden playset that got destroyed in the hail storms. This thing is solid and sturdy. The plastic doesn't get as hot as you would think in the sun but the metal poles get very hot. The only issue was the install. I decided to pick this up in store and put it together myself. Make sure you have 2 or 3 people. There are some parts that are long, heavy, or cumbersome. A few extra sets of hands comes in handy. Make sure you read the instructions before you start each stage and follow them, it will help. The use of the button fasteners and long bolts make it where there aren't any sharp ends where kids can get cut but it makes for a longer assembly time. I say buy it and put it together yourself if you have 8 hours to spare.
